I caught this one at KY lake this afternoon. :eek:

Otherwise healthy and 17" long. His bottom jaw was at least 1 1/2" longer than his top one (and appeared normal).

It appears to be a defect rather than injury. Pretty amazing how some animals thrive with handicaps like that.
When KY Lake used to have a healthy sauger population we caught several that had spines in very tight S curves both sideways in some and up/down in others. It amazed us that they could even swim much less grow to keeper size.

i claim photo shop, there is not way a pic can come from kylake without waves crashing over the bow of the boat:rolleyes:

yep theres one inmy pond like this...hadnt caught him in a while but hes just like this one

Now that you mention it, I can't believe how flat that water looks. I actually had to reset the boat twice to keep from getting beached while trying to get that picture snapped with the cell phone.

maybe that fish are a salmon , most photos of salmon shows a lower jaw that are longer

I've caught fish with all types of deformities - it amazes me they made it to maturity, most get eaten as small fry - even caught some that birds and turtles have taken a bite out of then healed over
