My question is,.. when fishing in the river, do you like to use sinkers at all? If so do you like split shots, bullets, etc?

Live bait or artifical? Either way, you obviously need to keep in mind the current and depth of the river as opposed to fishing lakes and farm ponds. The lighter the wait, the quicker the current will take it. If you're fishing structure, you may cast in that area but with a light weight, it won't actually get there cause the current will have moved your bait. I like using bullets if you're fishing plastic worms. If you're fishing live bait, you will need something more than split shots I would think. (For the lack of knowing the name) i would use the sinkers with the eye hook at the top. JMO

im gonna be fishing with live waterdogs. i planned on using the bullets but once i looked at it with a waterdog on it, it seemed too visible when it slid down to the hook eye.

Then you will need a leader.. Slide bullet weight up your line then tie on a two way swivel.. Take about a foot of line and tie on the other end of swivel.. The bullet weight will be above the swivel and can't slide down below it..
