Does anyone know how to shock a pond or know of anyone who does it. I've talked with a fish biologist that works with the DNR and he said they cannot do private ponds only state/county owned ponds/lakes. He said if they did private ponds they would be swamped with people wanting it done.

Is it legal to do it yourself?

That's a new one, then.

I have seen them (private lands biologist) shock 2 different private waterbodies here upon request.

Edit: are you talking about Indiana or KY?

KDFW has shocked my pond twice in the last 10 years.

Indiana. I'll have to look more into it. I just talked to him yesterday. He's a fisheries biologist and he shocks local/state lakes-ponds but says they cannot do private ponds... I may just call the CO and double check with him today. How much did it cost you to have it done?

It didn't cost the owners anything that I am aware of.

I don't think they can do anything if you shock it yourself (not positive). It would think the fish would be just like livestock or chickens. If you had it dug and stocked it yourself I don't see how it would be any different.

Does it cost anything to do in Kentucky?
