a friend gave me a mix yesterday for a small food plot im going to plant. just wondering about this mix. it has:

rape
milo
millett
sorghum
soybeans
oats
buckwheat

what do you think about this mix for deer and turkey, but mainly for deer?

well rape comes up quick but matures early and will probably die out about August but will pull them in till something better comes along. I've used Milo in the past and had good success. Millet is good for the birds but I don't think the deer will touch it much. Sorgum I haven't heard much about but what little I have heard is good for deer. Soybeans are always good! Oats come up quick and grow most places and buth deer and turkey will eat on them. Don't know a thing about Buckwheat but I guess it has the name for a reason! Sonds like a good mix. might add a touch of clover or chickery!

It really depends on the ratios, but it should be good for both. Personally, thats more seed than I like to mix in one plot, but to each his own.
