I let my neighbor graze his cows on a fescue ridge at my farm last year. This spring I sprayed the ridge with 3 qts roundup, 1 quart of 3 year old, gelled up, old, sat in the barn Plateau, some amonium sulfate and esterfied soybean surfactant. It's all brown now. I ran the disc through it every other disc width. What can I expect come fall. Hopefully good rabbit and quail habitat. Do you think the Plateau will do anything? I think it froze last winter.

Regardless, it will be better then the thick dence Ky-31 that was there.

Perry since Ive been letting areas grow up Ive been seeing a ton of rabbits and an increase of predator poop. I beleive Fox. Do you have quail?
If I release farm raised quail into some overgrown fields do you think they will survive and nest?
I know I have to thin out the coons and possums first because I already found a raided turkey nest.

I know what I get is ragweed about waist to chest high, blackberries, multiflora rose and some other native grasses and weeds I cant identify.

I already have about 30 acres of nwsg. I released 50 quail a few years back. I think they all got eaten but I do have a wild covey on the farm that came from somewhere.

the only time we have seen any luck out of releasing quail is to release them in big bunches i think most die but a few make it if released in bunches. we have been raising and releasing quail for prolly 10 or 15 yrs now mostly just to work the dogs but the past few years we take all we have left over about 70 or 80 and release all at the same spot at the same time. the past two years is the first times we have done it on the farm we havent found a wild covey one in 2 or 3 years. and last year we saw a pair with about 15 little ones last spring and have seen about 5 or 6 pair so far this year we are pretty sure one of them is nesting under one of our blue spruce trees in the yard they are there every day hanging around it.
