Im thinking of taking up bow hunting but to be honest I dont know the first clue of what to do. Im a 6 foot 2 165 pound kinda on the small side and dont have a clue what draw weight to get or even what brand to buy. If you guys have any input feel free to let me have it. Im always willing to listen to someone that knows what they are talking about.

In my experience I would not go to Dicks, may be just the one I went to couple of years ago, but the guy there wouldnt know how to set up a bow if his live depended on it. Im not one to bash stuff for the heck of it, but save your money and time and go to a real archery shop and get with an knowledgable professional to ensure a correct fit and try out as many bows as you can. I would recommend any of the top manufacturers such as Mathews, PSE, Hoyt, etc.... Bear seems to be back at the top of there game by teaming with Primos and introducing new and exciting bows like the Truth 2, and they have bows in the more resonable price range, so does PSE and Hoyt. But if your serious and have the means, when you find the right bow, one that you think about lying in bed at night, money is an after thought. When you do find one you like, I woujld do some shopping around and try to find the best deal you can, a great place to start is Archerytalk.com, you can find barely used bows at hundreds off retail. Theres nothing like hunting with a bow, to me the most spiritual rewarding hunting you can experience. If you need any more help Id be glad to help out. I was in your shoes not to long ago.

I found me a bow shop that was close to me so that whenever I needed some tune up or advice or work done it was close, and they will fit you and answer all your questions. just something to think about, bass pro should be close, and there should be several shops around.

A couple of things to think about. The percentage of let off is a key number to look at as well as the lb. draw. the higher the percentage let off the better. The let off is when you are at full draw you are not holding as much of the lbs of draw. So, if you draw 75 lb, at full draw you won't be holding as much if you have a bow with a high let off like 85% You don't have to have a draw weight out of this world. A 60 lb draw will kill deer all day long. It just depends on what your arms are comfortable with. I can probably draw a bow at 80 lbs but can't hold it that long so I set mine at 65 lb in case I need to stay drawn back for a while. just play with it and see. I've shot the same bow for 15 years(PSE lightning flight) and continue to kill deer so I figure why buy a new one. Some really like the newer technology bows. Its all preference.

everyone has said what you needed to hear,,, find a bow shop and go from there. you may ask some advice on here when you find a few bows that you like. let everyone know what they are and the price that was quoted to you. one of the guy's may no were you can get it cheaper? let everyone know what your draw is and you never know someone may have what you are looking for at a good price. bow hunting is awesome. good luck.
