I just got very upset! I have received permission to trap many acres of farmland in Tennessee that joins Kentucky land that I trap. I went on-line to check out the non-resident license cost and found out that it is over $400.00. I then went to Kentucky's site and saw that we only charge $130.00 for non-residents to trap in Kentucky! Something is very wrong with this picture. If Tennessee wants to charge us that much to trap, then Kentucky should charge Tennesseans the same amount to trap in Kentucky! This should be an area that maybe UTK should address with Kentucky Officials. Well, I feel a little better now that I have blown off a little steam! PS: I also posted this on the UTK site.

One of the main causes was the otter boom a few seasons ago. Ky had a restrictive limit while Tn. had none. Many Ky trappers were crossing the line, paying $150 for a license(making that back with one otter pelt) and trapping otter til theirs hearts content. making dang good money while at it..So Tn decides since they were getting x ammount of out of state trappers they would cash in on it. Thats what I have been told by several people..

I would rather see a reciprocity agreement that says whatever your state charges non residents we won't charge any more than that. There are intangible benefits to having tourists come in besides just the license fees. Back in the fur boom years lots of states had reciprocal agreements. I live close to the Tn. line also. That 400.00 license is a deal killer. Alabama's is 500.

When I lived in Tennessee I bought a lifetime licenses, I wish the KY Sportsmans licenses included trapping :(

Pappy I agree. It seems like nonresidents have it great coming to Ky. I personally pay $251 each year to hunt turkey in TN and it doesn't cost them near as much to come up here.
