I've deer hunted Union Co. It just depends on the farm you're hunting. Union Co. is a big time ag county and therefore most fencerows have been dozed out to make more room for crops.

I live in Union County, where do you plan on hunting, private or public land? If public, stay away from the Sloughs unless you like your dogs on swamp rabbits and really thick terrain. Them swampies will run a dog slap to death and its so thick you don't even get to see the critter let alone shoot at it. Some good hunting on the private lands, but we mainly hunt on Amish owned property in Crittenden Co.

Darn hawks are playing havoc on the rabbits around here, yotes also but not as bad. We try to keep them yotes thinned out. As for the hawks, to bad they don't control them alittle better. I know they are endangered, but you couldn't prove that around here, eagles are gaining alot of ground also. One day duck hunting the Ohio this year, I seen 5 different eagles, one even came down on the deks looking for a meal, that scrapper got within 2 feet of the dek with talons streached out before he changed his mind lol.

Slayed'em this weekend!! Froze my %*#$ off to. Union Co ain't like Washington Co!!! You can hunt all day down there. No hills to speak of. It's all empty corn and bean fields as far as you can see and you just hunt fences and ditches. Lots of rabbits but they ran funny. They would stay in there and do the 2 step around the dogs. They wouldn't come out till the dogs were right on top of them or we kicked them out.Fun to watch a chase out in those fields.

Jumped a covey of quail also. First time I've seen that in 5 years. That's the first time my son has ever heard a covey come up!!! Ain't that a shame for a 10 year old boy who hunts every weekend!!! I have never seen him that exited. What a shame!!
