WKUs final approach

Today was one of the best days I have had to hunt and still come home empty handed!!! I moved in on some birds early this morning and there was actually five birds right on top of each other. They hit the ground and was in full strut coming right at me:D Out of the corner of my eye I seen some movement and turned to look and it was a darn coyote:eek: Ya and he seen the birds about the time I seen him. All at once he went bounding into the birds jumping at them and trying to rip one out of the air while they were trying to flee. I was highly upset and red in the face!!! Then all at once three of the five birds showed right back up and started struting just like that. They were closing the distance when all the sudden not ten yards in front of me was my good ole buddy the coyote!! This time I did not want to give him the chance to spook the birds so I took my gun off safe and he looked right at me, he was only 8 yards away. I said to him outloud right before I pulled the triger "payback time" He had no clue what I was till I pulled the trigger and he rolled about three times and did not move. He obviously was going to go right back after the birds so I took advantage of the situation and took him out. The funny thing is saturday at around noon I shoot another coyote that came up to my call. I dont know what it is but coyotes seem to like my calls more than the turkey do!!
