I just completed my 19th season huntin turks, spring or fall. I have witness some wierd turkey behavior. This past week, i was watching a Tom strutting with some hens & several Jakes. The hens & gobbler moved on out of sight on property i could not hunt, but a jake lagged behind. So i called at him just for the heck of it. He stopped, looked my way, then began to twirl in a circle, then do the mating squat. Obviously frustrated. He done this several times, each time i called. He never moved to take a step, just twirl in a circle about 4 times without moving. First time i had seen that tho im sure others have seen one do that. What is your wierd turkey act story?

That's Very Interesting I've Never Seen Our Heard Of That Kind Of Behavior Before, Just Goes To Show You Never Know What Your Going To Get To See In God's Great Outdoors.

i got set up about thirty yards inside the woods off a roadbed. started purring and soft yelping on my slate call. I didn't hear anything but looked up to see a gobbler running from three hundred yards away. dead sprint! He stopped right in front of me for about ten seconds ad then just kept running. it was weird. kind of like he was out for a jog and gonna catch his breath. They are some crazy birds.

I know some seasoned hunters have seen this but once I set up close to and old fence line which for the most part is in shambles anyway, put the decoy out and started calling - shortly after 3 jakes came running in and instead of walking through an opening just below the decoy kept bouncing off the fence like they could go through it or something - i wasn't and didn't shoot one of them but almost bust out laughing at how stupid they looked - they would back up and plow right in to it again and again - they finally calmed down and found the opening and done their best to impress the old girl

I was calling a turkey in only to have him fly up the last 60 yards in a tree right above me. this was 9:30 in the morning. I wasn't real sure what to do. The bird technically wasn't on the roost cause it was mid morning. I DID call him in. After about 15 minutes of contemplating whether I should shoot him or not and trying to get him to fly down, I decided to shoot him. I'm not sure if it was the right call or not but its over and hindsight is 20/20.

Once he heads off to work, he's fair game.

yeah tuk2di thats why I decided to shoot him. If he'd a been that close on the ground I'd a shot him so why not when he was that close in a tree. that was my rationalle. i will say it was pretty wild watching a bird that big fall froma tree that high up (60-70ft) I see you're from hendo. I drive 45 min  there every day for work.
