View Full Version : Preserving turkey legs?
How do you preserve a pair of turkey legs? I would like for the spurs to stay black and not flake off. Thanks, JGD.

if you are savin just the spurs, i cut on each side of them and take a nail and push all that stuff out of the holes in the legs and pour salt in there and i put them in a little cup with a little salt in it,
hope this helps

get some borax poweder and dump it all over them let it stay on there for a few days, best to put the legs in a tupperware container and pour the powder over them, then let it sit in the garage, or basement for a few days with no lid.
That works wonders.

Cut them off like you want, soak them in a solution of borax and water for several days then rinse, let them dry for a few days, then submerge them into satin polyurethane and let them drip dry. If you dip them 2-3 times they will stay color-fast for years.
