I have been thinking about this and then I read another thread that really makes me curious! We all have heard about QDM and how the buck to doe ratio can get out of whack.I know that QDM works because we have utilized it on our farm and it works. However, the hen population on our farm is crazy!I did'nt have a chance to hunt last weekend so I finally went this morning and bagged a tom but the amount of hens I seen and heard vs any gobbles or gobblers was astounding.I don't want to sound stupid but is there anyone who trys to take hens in the fall to help out with the spring season?Maybe you and I can be the founders of (QTM)! LOL.I know the hatch was bad last year so maybe we are seeing continued effects from that.:) Your thoughts?

Harvesting hens in the fall is the only population tool i know of, unless you petition the Dept to trap them out for relocation, if they even do that anymore!

Me and a buddy of mine took as many people as we could to our hunting spot last fall to kill hens only. In all we harvested 12 hens. I am no biologast but there has not been a day yet that this spring that they did not gobble. We also have seen more gobblers than hens. I firmly believe in the taking of hens. Got tired of watching hens taking birds i was calling in away!
