I hunted Rich on Thursday and had 2 seperate issues what do you guys think and what would you have done?

My fiance and I went out and got there late about 9:30 AM and i saw a car parked at the main entrance. But I had to park there as well. We walked out the trail about 100 yards and you could go left or right so we went right. Walked about 40yds and listened. No gobbling or calling. I hit my call and 2 gobbled. We moved out the point and called again both gobbled but again neither were very close. So we moved on doen to where we could see a trail that he should come up. Set up and called. He gobbled. Then all of a sudden a hunter started to call from in the hollow below us. So I told her we would just back out and leave the area.

Next, we moved to the next road over. Made our way out to a spot where I had found while hunting the draw deer hunt. Moving and calling ever so often never did hear a turkey but we turned a corner and there is a clear road where you can see about 80-100 yards and I saw a decoy setting there. I hit the call nothing. Started making stupid noise and hitting the owl call tring to see if someone was there or if they just used the decoy to block the way. They never answered and I did not go any futher. We just back out and went home.

What would you all have done in these 2 situations?

First situation might of been handeled well but your second was not so good that guy might have been trying to work a bird you did not hear but standing back there making all kinds of noise like that was not pollite. best thing you could have done was just back away and leave

I waited and listened there was no calling or gobbler's gobblin. I think he was the guy that I back out on the other ridge over and he just left his decoy sitting there. I could be wrong though...

I would have done the same thing. Good call by just backing out and getting away from someone aready their. Thats the only thing about public land is the huge chance of walking up on someone. I would go back tomorrow. They may have to work. Just be there early early. Maybe you will get to where you want to be before they do. Also it wouldnt hurt to put a note on your windsheid letting anyone who does decide to show up were you are at... Good luck. Who is shooting you are your woman?

I am shooting... she may want to later but she really just wanted to get out there and enjoy the day with me. We had a good time even though we were on the move.
