Well I have not had much time due to doctor visits to chase those backyard birds but someone has. Not a gobble to be heard for three days now. There is a OOS guy who owns 60 acres across a gravel road on the back side of my woods ( I only own about half way across and another OOS person owns from there to the road) him and another guy have been here since opener. My guess would be due to lack of roosting tree's on that 60 acres (mainly open fields) they heard the ones sounding off across the road and went after them. My daughter said she heard a couple gunshots from behind the house and close real close she said. I know the winter flock was seven longbeards so maybe one will move in soon to take the hen's.

Thats turkey hunting....if only they would learn to keep thier mouths shut....:D. I may have to head to the farm across the lake before long to check on those there.

Just think how different the hunting would be if turkey did not make a sound.

Well at least you don't know for sure - I was hunting with a friend on his dads place this morn and heard birds but then heard someone off in that direction does an owl call then 1 hour later shoots twice to which my friend said that's on us and by the time we got there they were gone - go figure

I do know for sure...these tom's were regular as clockwork on the roosting tree gobbles and gobbles on their favorite strut zones and I had them patterned to where they went and what they did all day long. I don't know but a gobble just across the line is hard to resist for some guys. Whoever it was knows there is no hunting on that section of land, they drive past a nice sign that says so.
