Due to other commitments, I didn't get to hunt yesterday, but despite an earthquake to start off the day I made it back out this morning.I had plans to hunt a specific bird with a very distinct gobble and had set up on a ridge early this morning to see if he'd play ball. This bird never gobbles till he hits the ground and he finally sounded off about a quarter mile away on another farm, no problem I'd wait him out because he always ends up in the field below me strutting. An hour later I'm still waiting and listening to his sporadic gobbles when this bird starts up across the creek in a different field. Since he is having a complete fit, I head off in his direction and leave the ridge bird for someone else, by the time I get to the other side this bird is in the middle of the field by himself stutting and gobbling at everything-------a turkey hunters dream.I put the belly crawl into play and eased up the bank to where I was close enough that when I made the first call I'd get his immediate attention.Got right up in his wellhouse and made a few soft yelps and he couldn't help himself, I couldn't help myself either. Has all the makings of an older bird but the beard is somewhat spindly.Either way I'm done on state, going to try and concentrate on helping my oldest boy fill his tag. If time allows, I'll head back to Knox and help Uncle Sam with his turkey problem. If you seen my post from the other day, you'll notice I've got a bonafide future hunter on my hands that loves to sit in on any and all photo oppurtunities.........Good luck everyone,be safe.
