After seeing the post from turkdi, I decided to check the review for people that I knew had killed birds to see if they had checked them... only person I know that actually checked them in was me.. Just wondering if anyone else was finding this to be the case? If you haven't looked, check it out and see what you can find out.

I can't understand why someone would want to kill more than the two Spring turkeys allowed on your Kentucky licence. If you enjoy going out either kill one and keep going waiting for somthing special. Or kill out and keep going out just to hear them gobble, cluck, chase hens, and just enjoy the morning.. I know, some people are just greedy....

i'm not sure what there obejective is by not checking in their birds. one fellow i know kind of acts like they were all put here for him, he's only killed one, but i'd hate to be the third gobbler walking in on him with the 2nd one.

the new telecheck review is a great tool and could greatly benefit the sport as a whole.

I know a guy who brags about him and his son killing a bunch every year. Limits don't mean much to those kinda people.

A guy came into the shop yesterday AM with a nice bird in the bed of his truck. I asked him if it were the first one he'd killed and he answered "yep". I said something along the lines of I guess you got one to go and he said, "nope, two" and grinned like a possum.

I know a guy who has already killed 5 gobblers......

Let's nip this dang thing in the butt, if you know someone that has killed birds and not reported them, lets get together and turn their names over to the conservation officers. Let's see if we can use this system as a way of helping the officers find those who are breaking the law.

Who's in?

I must have been stepping on his toes a lil bit........ it's hard enough that the officers have a tough job, this review system could make it easier for them. If they would at least call the accused or show up, that would be enough to cut out a lot of this dang poaching.

Give a tip to the CO and let him pay their freezer a visit! Sitting idly by and doing nothing yields no results.
Two turkeys is all anybody needs IMHO.

Scott, you hit the nail on the head here. If someone knows a turkey is killed and not checked and they don't report it, they are as sorry as the poacher in my opinion.

This isn't driving over the speed limit, it's stealing from the sportsmen and women and future hunters. Sometimes thinking someone is looking will keep them honest.

Not saying you are, but this is the response you get from somebody who is breaking the law in question.

If you know of somebody poaching more birds than is allowed, do your part and report them.

the tresspassers are the problem that bugs me the most. ya hate to think that a turkey might be strutting within view of the road on one of your spots because (around here anyway) a lot of folks would think nothing of pulling off the road jumping the fence and calling in a turkey to shoot it. I've even had them pull up and shoot from the truck while i was in the field set up on a tom. that really ticks you off.

yeah just look at the results of this post here, seems like quite a few people on this thread alone know people who have killed birds and not tagged them..

the guy i know that killed 5, he just pisses me off to say the least, he just has this, they're here for me and only me attitude.......

I don't know about anybody else's county, but I see a lot of "Unknown or Youth" names on the counties around me that I have been checking. How do you know it isn't one of them. I can't understand why the Department cannot get a name from everyone that buys a license and tag. I do understand not printing a minor's name, but the unknown part could be anyone. Until they get this straightened out, it is not a perfect tool to help stop poaching. I hope they do so soon.

Based on looking at the deer harvest last year it looks to me like out of staters show up as unknown. Both my out of state nephews checked in deer last fall but neither name showed up.

It says at the top of the screen that Unknown or Youth means a person from out of state, a youth with no ID, or an adult without a driver's license.

If the person has a valid KY drivers License, then their name should appear. I sadly know of a few that don't make the list. These people have the tags, and wouldnt kill over the limit, but I guess are too lazy to call them in, idk why they wouldn't...

WOW.. i crack one little joke and I all of a sudden got a bunch of people bad mouthing me..

The response he got, was not one was of someone who breaks the law. That is just you badmouthing me with no proof what so ever.
If you know and can prove someone is poaching, then call the CO and provide that information.

looks like there sure is a lot of people that know of people who have killed more than their share or not checked one in.... More probably than the co's can cover.

Some people get to talkin' about the number of birds they shot and forget to mention how many states they have hunted this spring. If you got the time and money you can shoot a "truck load of legal turkey".

Isn't this what I just said in my post?

I wasn't "bad-mouthing" you, but for someone to jump directly on the defensive after a comment like that throws a red flag that they might be breaking the law in question.

I'm just saying than anyone who KNOWS that this happens and do not report it, are equally part of the problem.

Ding, ding, ding,......we have a winner.... give this man a cigar.

If you look the other way then you have zero right to complain. If you had rather not get involved then thats fine but just keep your crying and complaining to yourself. JMHO....

well some people deer hunting especially don't want to check there mediocre 8 point in if they think they'll run into something bigger before the season is over. They'll shoot that 120 class buck because he's nice but they won't check him in b/c they've seen a 160 class they're hoping to get a shot at later. Turkey hunters on the other hand look forward to hunting all year and are done (in some cases) in one or two days depending on your states bag limits. So... they hunt one day a year and are legally supposed to be done after they shoot "a" turkey but the hunter in them wants to go for more turkey action.
