i stayed home today with a bad cause of gobbler fever:D
i got to the spot at 5:00 and set down,at about 6:00 i could heat them spittin and drummin right beside me,i thought they was farther down and i listened to them gobble and drum and watched 1 about 45 yards away with a beard that easily would have went 11.5 in,probeblythe biggest bearded turkey i have ever seen,i was ready as sonn as those feet hit the ground he would be intorduced to a 3.5 in hevi shot but he stayed up till about 7:30 (i dont think they liked my decoys).well anyways they flew down but went over the cliffs and i thought that is great all the bird went over the cliffs but i was happy cause i got to see a good show and was not worried about fillin my 2nd 2008 tag.well i stood up and walked up on the ridge and yelped on my diapram and 1 answered me in the holler in front and he kept gobblin so i started callin to him some more with my diaphram and he was gettin closer so i shut up a while,he kept gobblin, after a couple min and he gobbled and i called alittle more and he answered in the edge of the feild so i got my gun up and i seen him i was gonna et him come closer but he got to about 40 yards and steped in an opening and i let the big dog bark.at first i thought i missed cause his butt hit the ground and he raised straight up so i racked another in and was gonna give him another dose but he fell over and didnt flop till i steped on his head.has anyone ever had that happen,(like a deer when there but hits the ground but his neck goes strait up.) well anyways i run out get him call dad and tell him(he was on his way to work) and showed him off.
he weight 22po 2.5 ou, 10.5 in beard, 1in spurs.

sorry about this bein so long it is just i am really proud of this gobbler,i have never called one in with just my mouth calls i useally use a slat or box, etc, and it was the first one i ever killed by myself,i normally hunt with someone like my dad but i would rather hunt with dad,it is something we go and do and have fun,i will go with him this weekend and call maybe video.

Man, i sure do miss skipping school to go turkey hunting. Those were good times. Its a shame the army frowns on calling in sick. Congrats on the bird

If I were your teacher, that would definitely be an excused absence.

nice bird! Don't play hooky too many more times; your writing needs work! :p Spruce it up a little, and this should make a great portfolio entry!
