I don't care how long you been huntin turkeys, you are gonna get pumped plum up at the sight of a sure kill gobbler. A gobbler that is stalking your decoy & you got him dead to rights now! With visions of victory tour dancing in your head, the list of who to show your gobbler to begins to mount in just the minute or two you have left before you unleash metal death to an unsuspecting gobbler. But alas, its the first shot that shoes the baby, and this pair didn't fit! Standing upright in all his glory after completing his walk down the gangplank, i shoved him over the side with a lethal dose of air! Ducking the near miss, he jumped into the air but decided to run instead, so back down he come. Not content with shaming the Tom with a miss, i promptly double embarrassed him with yet another! Now...there are few things in life rendering one distraught as missing a gobbler at 20yds...wide open. Perhaps i will think of one later. At this point, you could have bought my shotgun & related equipment for a tank of gas to get home. But i was dropped off in the dark, so i had to slow stew in my humble juices for another 4 hrs when my ride was to pick me up! He might arrive to see buzzards circling.
Once i finally got my wits about me, regained some semblance of turkey hunting professionalism, i decided to go to the other end of the pasture field in hopes of being near turkeys that perhaps hasn't gotten the word yet on the shootout. Sticking out 2 dekes( i hate this form of hunting, had no choice) i made a few half hearted calls. 20 minutes later a tom gobbles from 200yds right of me. I call back a few times but after 20 minutes i recognized this kinda tom, so i shut down for an hour. Good horse he was, for he never broke. Well....lets just go see whats holding up ole footaplantimus. Slithering as best as a bald, overweight, nearing 50 yr old man can do, i breathlessly arrived for a look-see. The gobbler & a buddy were alongside a wild onion field. Reaching for my call i left at my game vest 200yds back, i sent forth a inchoerent babble of a yelp. After a couple minutes of digesting my effort, good troopers they were, began to walk & feed in my direction. I decided not to call anymore, no sireee!! When gobblers are commin, let them come! Come they did, to within 15 yds of my lurking form! This time, under much more control, the shot was true & my 2008 Ky season was history! Yahooo. I can keep my guns & get some sleep & save gas and.................................Disreguard the date on my daughters camera, bird was bagged today, 4/17/08.

Good job young fellar.
You might want to check your shot pattern, must have a big hole in it,
not many shot in that head for 15 yard shot.
