Ok... not realy. I was out this morning, about 1/2 hr later than most days. I started out by bumping 3 beards as I was walking in. One only ran so I thought I would set a few deaks and see what I could do. I got a response from one of the other birds that flew over a creek on the first call. He seemed to not want to move and then he got 2 hens that I saw walk up his direction. I thought that I was done but after batteling with the hens for about 10 minutes I guess I wone because here he came down the hill and over the creek (it's true on my mothers life) I thought all was going good.... when I guess he saw me and ran off with the put (I think it's a laugh not a warning). So I moved to a different spot and started to work a gobbler that was just arround a bend and up a little hill (by the sound of it). I worked him for about a 1/2 hr and then it happened. I heard a rustle in the leaves to my right. I slowly turn my head and there 10 feet away from me are 2 long beards and one jake.
Now the problem is that I am right hadned and my gun is in my lap (muzzle to the left). I try to move as slow as I can and get hold of my gun. The birds are just gobbling and looking in my direction (deaks are to teh Left so they have to look past me) when they turn I start to move my gun slowly..... PUT PUT and gone. I thought about shooting one in the rear end just to make a point, but I don't.
Any way, tomorrow is a different day and I am going out earlier in hopes of getting one of those darn birds.
