went out this morning after about 2 1/2 hrs of sleep and showed up late (hell I was surprised I got up after working till almost 2). Heard a few as soon as I got out and decided to go for the closer one. Seemed as though he would move 50 yards further between gobbles. Finally got to the top of the ridge before he let one go right on the other side. I dropped the useless crap and got ready. Within seconds I saw a bird drop over to my left but way outta range and couldn't see a beard or head due to my poor eye sight. Tried calling but it didn't want to respond at all. After about 45 mins and nothing, I started trailing where it had gone. Nothing!! The coffee had finally hit and it was time to go. Getting everything back in and heard something walking in my direction. Dropped down gun up and there was the little red headed bastard 10 yards away. He managed to walk up a ditch and all I saw was his head before he turned and left. Hopefully he will be vocal again come Saturday cause he got away this time.
