We had an awsome hunt. We both didn't do any good opening morning. So I went over to his house and we went out about 10:30 we got back on a small ridge and he made a call or two and had to gobbler to hit sounded like they were about 75+ yrds. below us on our left then to our right 2 or 3 hens started in about the same distance. so we though we would just set down and they would meet in the middle and we could come away with a gobbler a peice! Well then hens went above us and went to the gobblers we think and we never heard them agin. So we went aroung the 4-wheeler path to another ridge. Wew got about half way across it and noticed some fresh scratching. so we both cut down on our calls a little . a hen about 100 yrd.s from us lit in and didn't shut up till she was about 60 yrd.'s from us. in the mean time two gobbles come from behind her and caught up to her and the original two that we wre hunting was behind them about 50 yrd.s. I noticed them about 50 yrd.s below us crossing a creek, and my cousin was looking in the wrong direction and haden't seen them yet. so I wispered to him" look to your right just below those cedars" he about jumped out of his pants. I gave a small per and here they come. the hen and the front 2 goblers. He lowered the boom on the front 1 just before I had a shot. But I was still happy to see him get his first! It was 20#, 9.5 in. beard, and 3/4 spurs. pretty nice for his first!
