I'm guessing the marriage isn't going so well...
I cannot for the life of me understand why this idiot is not being charged, or atleast being asked to reimburse law enforcement for wasting thousands of dollars and probably hundreds of man hours. Isn't this what they did with that runaway bride in GA a couple of years ago?
It never ceases to amaze me how some people can get away with the dumbest actions, yet good, honest people get the book thrown at them for the slightest thing.

Yeah I think that chick did have to pay out a few years ago actually. I'd say if his marriage was or wasn't going well before this, it just took a turn straight towards hell!

This guy didn't break any laws so the police don't have any reason to ask to be reimbursed. He may need protection from his wife though.
The gal in Georgia had to reimburse the police because she falsely claimed that she had been kidnapped. That's a no-no.

I have thought the same thing about people who drive their cars into rushing water and get stranded.
Rescue people are called in to save them. Why did they drive into the water in the first place. They should have to pay for the rescue effort IMHO.

Tragically, not against the law to be stupid.

Oh...I didn't know she claimed to be kidnapped...couldn't remember. Thanks

Yes...tragically...maybe we could change a few things though...:D
I don't really see much difference between saying you have been kidnapped and giving loved ones false information that leads them AND law enforcement to think that you have either been a victim of foul play or involved in a tradgic accident. Both are fabrications that waste resources.

So far as I read, this guy didn't give anyone information, he just didn't go home.
I bet that sort of thing goes on hundreds if not thousands of times a week all across this country.

He told his wife he was on his way home and would be there in a couple of hours. I can't imagine any wife or husband that wouldn't react when that time comes and goes and nobody shows up, especially when hours turn into days.
I'd say you are correct that it happens all the time, but just not to this extent. It just angers me that the state, already strapped for cash wasted a ton of money on this. The time they were out looking for this bum who was chillin on the beach in Key West could have been spent much better IMO.

Art, I see and understand your point but I bet there is alot more to this than the decision he made to turn left or right and head north or south. I would venture to bet that this guy is manic or has some other type of Mental Health illness.....

Probably, but that gal from GA was diagnosed with a mental illness too I thought.
It's all just strange to me. I mean, you get charged for a police visit if your home alarm sends a false alarm, but for this he gets nothing. Sometimes I have a hard time understanding some laws, this is just one example.:D
