How many of you have a family member in the military at this time? Son's - Daughter's - or other relation to you. Just curious ???
As some of you know I have my oldest grandson in the Army at this time assigned to the 10th mountian division out of Ft Drum NY. Now at Ft Leonard Wood, Mo. doing a leadership training course for the next 4 weeks.

I don't have anyone in my family. I do get updates from a co-worker's nephew who graduated from West Point and is now in Iraq. Tell your grandson I said thanks for what he's doing. I appreciate it!

I do. In contrast to some on this forum, they believe there is a need for what they are doing.

Some on this forum don't want to see any more of them get KILLED fighting a battle they have already lost because of them people giving them their orders.

Have you ever had to fight? For anything, anytime, or any reason? Just curious.
It just seems odd to me that as you sit in your recliner spouting anti war crap, pretending to be concerned for a soldiers life. They are risking their life for something they think is right and needed, yet you protest the job they are doing from the comforts of your home. Just doesnt seem right.

My brother, duckman26, Is in the military and whether or not we agree if the war is right or wrong we still need to support all the military people and give them the respect they deserve.

And some on this forum don't want the soldiers who have been killed in this war to have died in vain because some leaders and alot of citizens don't have the backbone to finish the job! I have one nephew in Iraq and another that recently signed up knowing that Iraq could very well be where he will be soon. I am proud of their courage and patriotism and I appreciate the job all the U.S. soldiers are doing! The war has not been lost as you have stated a few times on this forum.

Ok..... I have a son in Iraq. He's with A Co. 1-21 infantry 25th ID, "Gimlets". He has 11 more months there.... He has been there since Dec of 07.
I got to speak with him early this morning.. They have been in a running firefight for the last 96 hrs... Had one KIA in is unit and 1 WIA as of this morning... As a result of action in combat, according to my son, his Lt. put him in for a Bronze Star. However he related to me that his Plt Sgt advised him that it was down graded to a ARCOM with device...
Up until 8 days ago, I got to speak with him almost daily via internet IM's..
As he was in Camp Liberty or a JSS outpost that had phones and internet.. And just ran daily patrols or was on the reaction force and just responded to calls.....
He said they expect to be out for another 12-15 days. Sleeping on roof tops....
Do I worry? Sure, a lot... Do I think we need to be there? Sure I do... Do I agree with everything the "command and staff" are doing? No, I do not... Do I support the troops and command? Yes I do...
I am also a US Army veteran. I served proudly as is my son....
Do I believe that the media will distort and lie? Yes, they did it when I was in, because I know of things happening one way, and then being reported another....
All that I have ever ask of anyone that knows my son, and soon be be my other son also, as he has enlisted in the USMC as a rifleman/infantryman, is that they support the young men and women who are in the Armed Forces of OUR country.....
Also, if you pray, please pray for them to be safe......
If any of you on here want more info, please send me a PM...
Thank you,
Veteran and proud father

No blood relatives, but I do have one very good friend. She is due to come home in June.
Canemaker, God Speed to your son, may he come home quick and safe.

Had one of my best friends who was one of the first to go into bagdad. He only had to go over once.
Another one of my friends is an Army Ranger. He goes back the first week of July, this will be his 9th trip to either Afghanistan or Iraq. The sacrifice he has given is beyond anything I could ever commit to. He has had several close calls. I pray for him daily. He was in the same group as Pat Tillman.

xi: I have several close friends that are either over there right now, or have been in the past, so my concern is genuine.

Are you dense? I support the troops 100% Why wouldn't I? What I don't support is our so-called commander in chief and his way of running this disgrace he calls a war.

Don't you worry about my personal life, it's none of you business, and I wouldn't stoop to hanging around with someone like you to give you the time to find out anyway.

Dont worry Philpot, I wouldnt let you hang out with me. You dont have the gonads.

I am in the Air Force right now, I am a recruiter. I have a lot of sleepless nights because I go home every night to my family. I have a lot of brothers and sisters in arms that do not have that luxury. I feel guilty because I am not there with them. If you want to call the war a disgrace, say the Soliders, Marines, Sailors and Airmen are there because they have to take orders; I suggest you visit the local VA Hospital and talk to some vets. They are there because they volunteered to serve OUR country, last time I checked there wasn't a draft. Whether or not you agree with the war or not, stand behind our troops, our leadership and the moms, dads, sons, daughters, brothers and sisters who have loved ones protecting all of us. I am not pointing fingers or trying to get into a KY hunting forum heavy weight bout. The only way to "win" this war is to keep supporting everyone from the brand new E-1 to the President. I pray daily for our troops, leadership and the families of our troops; I suggest everyone do the same.

Xi:Those men that fight are fighting for everyone, YOU included. It's because of that "disgrace" that you have the freedom you have.

I retired in 1999, and I'd go back in and serve if they (The Military Dr's) would let me..... I see nothing wrong with the way our President has run this war....At least he has the Gonads to stand up to all the whimp Democrats who think differently now than the way they thought prior to the start of the war. Their the ones trying to get re-elected not Mr. Bush. A fine man in John McCain is going to take over and continue to make sure our service men and women haven't died in vain..... I salute all the service men and women serving right now and those that will follow......

XI u are asking me if i am dense??? have you noticed there is like maybe one other person on this sight that agrees with what you have to say... and look at what good this war has done... not only protecting our safety from terrorist but leading the middle east in the right direction... the proof is here, talk to the vets and brave men serving over there, as far as leadership... i believe they must be doing something right, new schools have been formed and they are helping rebuild communities and putting lives back together free from the usual fear they encountered everyday before this war. is there problems??? ofcoarse there are some, we are human for that matter, but dont dwell on the mistakes look at the overall picture;) which is mainly good!!!

I have had atleast one family member in every major war since this country was founded except for Desert Storm and the war now. My uncle was a pilot in vietnam, and had a few others in that war. Great uncle in WW2 and grandpa in Korean war. As well as others, but those are the only family members that I have been around. I have a few friends that have been to middle east for 2 or 3 tours, and one friend over there right now. If it wasn't for them, there is no telling where this country would be right now.
