View Full Version : How long before a Military draft if Mc Cain Wins
Duster

Another 100 years. Just think about that...100 years is a long time. I seen where two members here just had male children...not picking on you two so don't take this personal. That 100 years is 4 to 5 generations in most familys so that would mean those newborns would see their great great grandchildren with a good possability of heading to Iraq. And those great great grandchildren's great great grandchildren still paying the bill's.
To keep a supply of troops for that many years and with the talk of invading more countrys such as Iran in the near future I can't see a all volunteer force keeping the numbers high enough to accomplish those goals in the future.
I would say we will see a draft in less than 8 years unless things change.

Lots of countries have mandatory military service and it probably helps instill a sense of patriotism in many of those who serve. I didn't serve when I was of age and the draft had been stopped 1 year before I would have been eligible. Vietnam was winding down and the soldiers were coming home and getting spit on. I had no desire to be part of that because I would have killed any SOB who spit on me for serving my country. I really wish I had served, but in a different time.
Kids today have ZERO sense of patriotism because they, and most of their parents, have never had to sacrifice for their country like previous generations. I stand in honor for those who have served.
John McCain did not say we would be at war in Iraq for 100 years and those who said he did are typical socialist morons. He said we will probably have a military presence in the region for years to come, maybe 100 years. How many years have we had soldiers in Japan, Italy, most of Europe? How long has it been since those soldiers have had to fight on that soil? Not since 1945 in Europe! Our military presence has made it unlikely that they will ever have to fight there. If we bail out of the middle east, we will end up having to fight wars and putting out fires there for the rest of human history. This is the point McCain made and if you had taken the time to hear his entire message you would understand that.
Quit getting your news from the Communist News Network and you might really see what is going on in the world. You and your socialist buddies here might also come to understand that it's not the governments' job to take care of all our problems or wipe your butts. The government needs to get out of our lives and get out of the nanny business for those who are too damn lazy or stupid to make it on their own. Not one soul is owed a living, a house or a meal from the government. Those of us who work hard and pay our taxes are the ones who are getting the shaft when we have to support those who refuse to help themselves.

That's like saying that less than 6 years ago a soldier would have had a real good chance of heading to Cuba or the Phillippines to fight Spain. Think about it.

I will bet my house to anyone that wants to take the bet, we won't have a draft in the next 8 years. No way, no how. I see us having 75% of the troops out of Iraq in the next few years, maybe sooner. That will be thousands and thousands of US military back in the states.

Good post Mrdux!!
The United States has had one or more bases in Japan for 63 years, Germany for another 63 years, that is just 37 years short of 100.
We've had several bases in England since 1943 ans a couple of them are still in operation.
We've had several bases with one right on the front line for 58 years in Korea.
We had bases in the Philippines since 1899 until about 10 years ago.

this dang country can't afford more wars, seems like everyone wants to take pride in that we're the world police but don't have enough sense to realize we can't afford to continue to do that.
question should be where are we going to get the money for this?

What I am wondering is when one of these nations that we are indebt to is going to tke their money back and when don't have it to give they are going to take it out of our butts by brutal force! Not likely to happen but it could. Myself I don't think that alot of us are going to even be here in 8 years much less 100. The bible states that when Israel regailns there nation it will be 40 years till the comming of christ. At 2012 it will be 40 years since the birth of the new Israel nation was formed!

The modern state of Israel has its roots in the Land of Israel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_of_Israel), a concept central to Judaism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judaism) for over three thousand years. After World War I (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_I), the League of Nations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/League_of_Nations) approved the British Mandate of Palestine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Mandate_of_Palestine) with the intent of creating a "national home for the Jewish people."[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel#cite_note-6) In 1947, the United Nations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations) approved (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_General_Assembly_Resolution_181) the partition of the Mandate of Palestine into two states, one Jewish and one Arab (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab).[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel#cite_note-7) The Arab League (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_League) rejected the plan, but on May 14 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_14), 1948 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948), Israel declared its independence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declaration_of_Independence_%28Israel%29).

WOW!!! With all the doom and gloom that some want to spread on this forum I guess that I will pack up my wife and 3 month old son and move to a mountain top in Idaho . No wait a minute. That didn't work for Randy Weaver and his family at Ruby Ridge. Janet Reno and the socialist Clinton administration made sure of that.
At least John McCain has served his country and wants to do whatever it takes to keep us safe and free. Clinton and Obama hate everything about this country and what has made it a great country. All they want to do is support socialist programs and promise to take care of the worthless, lazy pices of s**t that refuse to work. All we need is another libral in the White House. Then the clock will be ticking for another 911 type incident.

A few landmark achievments come to mind from the Clinton era:Assault weapons ban, losing domestic jobs because of NAFTA, Whitewater, embarrassing sex scandals in the Oval Office, Janet Reno and thugs and the Elian Gonzolez saga, turning a blind eye to Al Quaida while the Cole, Embassies and other places bombed, and letting Osama get away in Turkey when we coulda popped a cap in him and been done.Helluva Job! We have been through this one other time with you Scott. We showed you that the things you touted as "good" during Clinton, are actually better under Bush. Unemployment, int rates, home ownership, stock market, etc. They are all BETTER under Bush.
So your nor XI can name 20 things that were better. Thats just nonsense.
Here is what happens, papaw is a partisan democrat. And he says things under clinton were good, things under Bush bad. and then some of you get on here and repeat it. Thats fine until someone shows you the facts, and it shows papaw is wrong. Then what? Since you were just repeating something that you have no idea is factual or not, there is where the problem comes in. Now your stuck.

no one in my family is a democrat...... most people will say that things were 10X bettter under clinton than bush.. notice i said that he could say that? i didn't even say i thought that, i was just ruffling you narrow minded people's feathers before..
for you all to think that the avg american won't say they liked 95cent gas? 20 dollar a barrel oil, everything was cheap so to say, and in this area where i'm at, everyone had a great job, not some crappy job they have now, they were making more..
now does that have a damn thing to do with the president? not really
bottom line is... people on this forum will take what facts they want, and twist them to suit their needs. when they won't step up and admit that this country has taken a turn for the worst under president bush, not that it has much to do with him, but it is under his watch... 110 a barrel oil, outrageous prices everywhere you turn, it's absolutely nuts, economy has shed a quarter million jobs in the past 3 months, housing market went kaboom, i mean people can go on and on with their arguement..
some time, someone is going to have to face the dang music, and get their heads out of the elephants butt! this country can not afford to keep going at it's current pace, then people say oh yea, well our grandkids will pay for it, yeah.... right, if it stopped now sure, but there is no end in sight, our dollar is falling daily, which is bad, we have a social security system that no one will touch, president bush jacked his jaws for 8 years and nothing was done, that system is going broke, then he expands govt, something republicans are not supposed to do! and also, aren't republicans supposed to be conservative?? YEA RIGHT, bush is a money spending fool..
as far as the iraq war, at the time, i was with him saying go for it, hindsight, i say what the heck was the point?
the tax cuts were a good thing, maybe the best thing he done in 8 years in office.
i'm not sure why you guys sound so merry over bush and what he has done, not that the situation now is because of him, but times are not good and serious change is going to have to take place to make corrections where they need to be..

And, as far as the war gos.....when a bunch of terrorist, bring their wicked ways to our soils, and fly our airliners full of our citizens into our buildings, I, am for one glad we had a president that was willing to chase them to the ends of the earth, for the protection of our peacful freedoms!

On May 17, 2000 Mohamed Atta and other terrorsts applyed for US vusas and on May 18, 2000 they got them. One single day.
Oh and I bet president bush was going to change that even if 9/11 didn't happen.. c'mon folks......... spin spin spin

Scott, you are the only one spining anything.
You keep bringing up the price of gas.
A honest question.
Tell me and everybody else. Do you think the next president, no mater who it is, can bring the price down???

see, i make a sound post about my true feelings and people have the nerve to ask what my tax rate was? i mean come on...
it doesn't matter what it was, the dollar was worth one helluva lot more then.. gas was 90 cents a gallon for crying out loud......
if you'd read my post i said that the tax cuts were probably the best thing that he's done......
at some point folks, people are going to have to lend a hand to their neighbor, instead of stompin him for all he's worth, that won't happen because we want it to, it will happen because we will have to.
You are getting on others about "them having the nerve"
Yet for months you made post after post saying you was a republican but only made pro-democrat posts.

Sure the economy is going to slow down. There is now way that it could keep up with its crazy pace that it was running. To me we all got spoiled a little bit on how well things were going, and took a lot of stuff for granted. But how can you knock Bush, and how can you say Clinton was great? Clinton rode the wave of others before him, and just took all the credit. The economy has rode the housing market for years, and now that it is in a decline so are we. But this could have been avoided if people, would have stopped giving loans to people, who where buying house they knew they couldn't afford. Everybody was worried about making a fast dollar now, and not worried about the long run.

no duh, the next pres can't lower gas prices or any president......
once again you take what i say and twist it to suit your gripe...... I have said in this thread alone how many times that it wasn't because of the president that things were smoother..
you guys remember when the dollar was a desired currency?
the bottom line is, SOMETHING HAS GOT TO GIVE..... McCain won't do it, Hillary won't do it, and Obama.. well he's an idiot.
as far as pro-democrat comments, as i said earlier, i said whatever it took to get you guys riled up, and it worked..
as barney said, the times make the president.. bush has encountered a lot of bad things on his watch, that would have came about no matter who was in office... yeah read that again in case you missed it..
the problem is all signs are pointing to not a dang thing changing, bush nor anyone else will do anything but spout comments about social security, but by golly they'll shove the money through homeland security, or the dept of energy, or some other crap they have to swindle money around.
like i said before, it's time to get your head out of the elephants butt, and acknowledge that this country has seen better days, and has had a much brighter future at nearly turn in our history!
we need a leader in this country that is totally outside the washington circle, ron paul, even though he's a bit to far out, would be better than any of these clowns, at least he would propose a new way of doing things and addressing problems such as social security, monetary policy, and other things of immediate concern. you won't hear canidates hardly touch that stuff with a 10 foot pole other than just chanting change, because none of them want to mess with it....
we can't borrow our way through eternity folks, we can't just keep piling up debt, and keep borrowing and borrowing, the u.s has a credit limit too, i'm just wondering how far the lenders are willing to let it go..

did we need that to keep us safe, i highly doubt it... if the cia was doing their job and working with the military on what they have, it would be fine.. another level of BS doesn't help things.. but think what you want..
bush is a hero, turkey man should be his vice though lol
