What an unbelieveable morning to be in the turkey woods. They started gobbling early, and didn't stop. We were hinting a food plot of Whitetail Clover, and were covered up. Three strutters, and twenty+ hens in the field. One more gobbling behind us. 7:56edt, my son finally had the shot he was waiting for. 22yds. what a face mashin'. 3yr or better, 1.25" spurs,10.5" beard, 24lbs10oz. Then, when we get to the truck and call a good friend, his boys had doubled. Both long beards!!! I'm still tore up. Hope to get some pictures up soon!!! It seems that there is a new strain of the "BIRD FLU" on the rise in this part of KY.

Well, today wasn't quite as sweet as yesterday. Had a bird roosted Sat. evening, but I had the feeling he was going to be a "bad" one. It was hard to get him to gobble, and he was in a place where I felt he would have too many options. To make a long story short, he was very henny! Gobbled good off the limb, and then sporadically. I didn't call too much because I felt the hens would feel intimidated and drag him away. That is what happened anyway. You guys know how it goes. After the morning hunt, my son had to practice baseball. Hunted the p.m., and heard two gobbling approx. 1mile away. I know what you are thinking, but because of the topography, I could watch them gobble through my binocs. They were across the now super sized KY river. But all was not lost, my buddy's oldest son tagged out with a nice 2yr. old. 20-22lbs. 11" beard, .75" spurs. So our three boys took 4 longbeards this weekend. I'd take that every year!!!!:D:D
