Just got word that I'll be hunting area 6 this Sunday. I've hunted it before, but is it a good turkey area? Last time, I didn't see a bird. There will be 5 others in the area, which seems like a lot of hunters. Any advice on this area would be greatly appreciated, since I'm coming from 2.5 hours away. Thanks in advance.

Back water had begun to recede from Area 6 bottoms, Ohio on lower gage is currently 39'.
River is on the rise and will be 50' on Sunday morning, 5' below flood stage. Back water will be a problem, creek bottoms full all the way to Dixie Hgwy.

I have a 2.5 hour drive --- will I be wasting my time? I know the area near the tank on 31W will be flooded, but what about the other side? Also, does the area end at the huge, steep hill in the back, or can I go up?

Bring some waders and a boatload of patience, and no I'm not kidding. With the rain we've had in the last 48 hours you'll be circling trying to get around water in there all day.FWIW, when its not flooded, the birds are there.I've worked birds and killed birds in 6. It is a very low lying area though and will be holding a lot of water by Sunday, if you go I'd stay up close to the big field/air strip in the front of the area, its right down the side road from the caution light/Y on Dixie HWY.

Area 6 ends at the creek before you head up the hills of area 4 and area 2 that looks like a lake in some areas. Might as well go hunting just get as far back as you can in the pipeline or the power line and may want to wear waders if you have them but the bird have been in there even with the water just hard to get to them with all the flooding. Good luck and let us no how you did.
