That's what there calling me down in the Tn turkey woods. I saw about 20 hens and 2 longbeards coming out of a neighboring farm pasture, headed to the farm I had permission to hunt. I made my way up the ridge to get in front of them. This ole boy came in silent with his girlfriend that I called in with some excited yelps on my Knight and Hale mouth call. She seemed a little irritated that I was calling to her boyfriend. She came within 15 yds of me, but I had to move the gun barrel to get on her, since I felt a gobbler might follow behind her. I was setting across from her on an old logging road. Of course, she saw me move, and started to move away from me. Then I saw a red head moving through the woods. At about 30 yds up the road, out stepped her lover. He was suspicious, and wanted to go up the road. I placed the red dot sight on his ole warty head. That's when a payload of Winchester High Velocity # 6 out of my Remington 11-87 enabled prissy hen to collect surviour benefits. I was a happy camper and immediately call my 94 year old dad in Alabama, and sent some phone photos to him. He quickly staked a claim on some turkey nuggets. That's how he likes turkey cooked, cut up the breast in small pieces and fry it like chicken. Vital stats on this ole boy--- 22 lbs, 10 inch beard, and 1 inch spurs. I want to get one more Tn bird, then i want to go to Alabama. That's where boys and men are separated in the turkey woods. So far, I'm just a boy there. Hope my luck changes. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a232/tndeer/032908_0937a.jpg

WKYhunter, i'm not sure about Cedars but I worked a couple of gobblers Saturaday on a different farm than where I killed my bird. They gobbled their heads off on the roost, but when shut mouth off the roost. I'll try again on saturday. The owner told me at church Sunday that his hay field was full of turkeys with at least one strutter as he was coming to church. I'm not seeing turkeys in the fields like i usually see. A lot of my buddies didn't see or hear any turkeys opening day. Not sure what's going on. I did see a big gobbler as I was riding the Music City Star train home from work yesterday. He was with a hen just outside the Lebanon city limits. Had a paint brush beard. Hope your dad gets on one.
