I'm sure Birdman will be on here shortly. Talked with him today quite abit over lunch, I think the Cyber Hunter thing is a great idea. Get your ducks in a row, I'm ready to join.
UBK did some fine lobbying today I'm proud to say. Crossbows will be allowed in gun turkey seasons (like deer seasons) but NOT in archery turkey season...can I get an Amen?
Fall gun turkey season in Oct. was motioned to a vote by Commissioner Boatwright but defeated. The moving of fall gun turkey season WILL be back for the March Commission Meeting. Some of the commissioners asked for the time to talk to the hunters in their districts. Amen to that too, it was the right thing to do. So let's be talking between now and March, we've got some time to really wring this out now. Take care..Walt

Good job Walt. Thanks to all the UBK people who helped on this one. I got a chance to talk to my Commissioner before the meeting but couldn't get away from work to come down there. Did get a letter drafted and out to several of the people involved. It's great to see the system work the way it should.

Great job guys. Hey Walt, you stick around and watch these fellas, they're on to something good here and I think having your name added to the members list would help push our seriousness and integrity in the eyes of the KDFW. So, with that said, hopefully you will like what you see in the coming weeks and add yourself to the membership. Hope to see you again at the next UBK meeting if you attend.

The key to getting the crossbow issue taken care of was Rick getting the agenda posted in a very quick action through his letters to Roy. Had that not happened, we would not have known this was coming up. I look at it as a Cyberhunter's victory, although we probably won't get credit for it. Thanks to all that called their Commissioner.

I talked to him by phone this morning (8/26) and he is OK other than some sinus problems making him sound like he was talking from the inside of a barrel. Birdman was very upbeat about the commission meeting on Friday and the interest that the Cyber-Hunter's were receiving from the Dept and Commissioners, but I'll let him give the details.

I can tell from the emails I received today from Roy that they know we're here and are not going to go away. I know Rick has gotten the same response. I'll send you a copy of the emails concerning Central that Roy sent me.

Iv'e gotten nothing but polite and prompt responses and good vibes.

Why shouldn't we? We all have a stake in this and surprises are bad for ALL concerned. I look for good things to come.

Boys it's nice to see your were concerned about my health.<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle> The meeting went well and Walt done a good job covering your boys ass. This is the first meeting in two years that I've seen a discussion take place that ment anything.

As for the horses, you can not ride at anytime while a firearms hunt is taking place on a WMA. Who the hell would want to anyway. Now that is unless your hunting from a horse. Walt did I get this one correct?

Walt has told you about the crossbow.

I have a summary of the meeting, I'll post that tomorrow.

I have a question... was there any proposal to include crossbows in the fall archery turkey season, or was it for the firearms season all along?

I ask this because different folks got different info from their commissioners prior to the meeting.

From what I was told it was not clearly understood until the commissioners questioned the proposal? The original request for the spring turkey season.

Ky Headhunter: When I called the 4th district commisioner to get some facts on a few issues he went and got some paperwork and read it to me over the phone. It stated ALL legal turkey seasons.

I then asked for clarification on would that mean fall archery as well. He said that is the way it reads.

Thanks for the replies, fellas.

It sure is nice having a place like this to share info & hear opinions from different perspectives.
