I'm pretty sure all 50 states has the "right to self defense" law, but you need to contact ISP and get the facts rather than rely on a hunting forum for something that could have serious consequences

Our CCW permits are reciprical. Otherwise, I'd contact the Indiana St. Police first. Tom

I checked.....you can not legally carry in a vehicle without a Indiana permit. There are a few exceptions but most won't meet them. Looks they they are about as bad as Illinois. Don't take your handgun into either state.

Your Ky. CCL doesn't help in Illinois either. Can't see anywhere in the law where it does in Indiana either?

I believe Indiana still has the two type handgun permit system..one was CC the other hunting and target and you have to go thru the state to get either. Best bet is to double check and know than risk it.

I believe you need a permit to carry a handgun in IN---concealed or not....You can use a KY CCDW permit to carry in IN (that would qualify). At least this is the way I understand it. here's a link

What is it about IL and conceal carry? Our next president is going to come from there and here is what he has to say about the topic.
Supports national law against carrying concealed weapons, with exceptions for retired police and military personnel.

Too many Democrats in Illinois. Guns have to be unloaded and cased during hunting seasons. Residents need a ownership card to even own a firearm.

I'm not sure what the law is, but I know that I went to an auction in IN where some guns were auctioned and they said upfront that if you were from Ky or some other state that wasn't Indiana, don't even bother bidding on the handguns. They said it was nearly impossible that they could ever transfer it to you. Rifles weren't a problem, just handguns.

Unless you HAVE a Ky CCW do NOT try to carry a HANDGUN into Indiana (loaded especially) .......they do NOT allow "open carry" but do recognize Ky CCW....as we do theirs here......

Illinois has the stupid strict laws due to Chicago's population being so large and having " a huge say " in such things..... ( I have family in both states BTW) :D
