watched Darius Miller - as of know he is no Joe; but man I think he will be a real deal fast. and as for the Mccreary Co. boy if you all have not seen him play you all need to!!!!! - really good for as young as he is, i guess that is why BG has had him at Florida game. hope he pans out for us:D

Darius Miller is good, I don't think he'll be an instant star like patrick patterson but he'll contribute his first year I do beleive.
Tonight was the first time I've really watch him play. I wasn't all that impressed. I think he's got the ability, but he will need some time under BG to pull it out.
His foot speed seemed really slow to me, but that will improve. Also he did a lot of standing around on defense, especially for a state championship game I thought. That won't fly at UK. We're sure going to miss Bradley and Crawford for the first half of next season I think.

yeah from what i've seen he's not much of a scrapper....
I think there's a chance that Joe Crawford's lil' bro might leave IU for UK, so Miller might have to work harder for some PT.

where do you all think BG is going to get all these scholarships? it seems that everyday some new player is going to UK

Right now we have four open schollys. Two for Ramel and Joe, One from last season we never used and Mark Coury is on academic for a total of four. Porter is more than likely going to academic and if needed Carter can do the same. Also look for at leat one to transfer out (Williams?). So we could easily have 6 to use if we needed, 7 if we cut some dead weight.

Miller is a good ball player, still a little green, but will be a solid player at UK I believe.
UK has 2 seniors graduating, so thats 2 schollys, Legions left, so his is available, thats 3. Porter is reported to be going to an academic scholly. Academic schollys are much tougher now to qualify for, not sure anyone else qualifies. So thats 4.
You have Liggins and Miller taking 2 of the 4. The Juco you would assume would get one of the others. But the SEC has several rules for Juco transfers that he doesn't pass. I am not sure how he gets here. So there may be 1 or 2 available depending on him.
Scotty Hopson of course will always have a scholly if and when he wants it. With the state tourny over, I think he will decide pretty soon.
So you very well may have all 4 taken right there if you got Hopson.
Here is where the problem comes in, for the first time in UK history we won't have a Senior night next year (thanks Tubby). The reason? No seniors, which means no open schollys.
The word is nobody is going to transfer, I find that hard to believe. If a guy came here to play, and doesn't get a single minute, he is leaving.
Gillispie has lots of bigtime 4 and 5 stars listing us as their top 2 or 3. The problem is number of schollies available. Not to mention we already have commitments from undeclassmen (GJ Vialrino,KC Ross Miller, Dakota Euton) for the next few classes. So schollys are tight, and some already spoken for.
I don't remember us having these problems in the past.:D

I have a feeling that not everyone that is suppose to be here next season will be. Both Liggins and Galloway are apparently dumb as a box of rocks. I'd be shocked if we didn't lose at least one other player, especially if we have impact players lining up at the door. We might even see some athletic scholarships being changed to academic.

Slick Head you dead on right, but I am pretty sure Curry is on academic. Coach said that Tubby removed him to free up a scholly and Coach G wanted to reward him and put him back on and couldn't. So we would have that one, the seniors and Legion's to make four.
Your rght about never having this problem in that past. Tubby would wait to the last minute and would never offer early. Actually many schools offer kids knowing that they don't have enough schollys, hoping the best ones make thier minds up early.
As far as Miller, put him on a team of 5 star players and I bet he plays TONS better.

I didn't know that about Coury, sounds like their is one more scholly open, thats good news.
Also it appears that many in the know believe Bud Mackey will get nothing more than misdemeanor charges when all said and done. If he doesn't get any other offers, it appears he wants to walk on at UK. It would be nice to get a walk-on that is a high 4 star, almost a 5.
And with Joe Crawfords words he said about Billy G, if his brother does transfer, I would think he would be on our list.

I was there also.. I was thinking the same thing about his defense.. However, I have seen him play in other games where he moved around better.. When really needed, he can perform and take over the game.. He needs to play that way every minute.. He did finish with 24 points and tourny MVP, helping his team win the state title..

I haven't seen the kid from McCreary play yet, but did meet him the other night.. His last name is Watts, and has been shown around UK campus.. Talked to the coach from Clinton Co. and he said this kid is good enough to play for UK..

I heard from some guy who's really close to the program say that Gillispie will NEVER allow Bud Mackey to play here. I might take a chance on him, but since we're already pretty well stocked up on guards (it appears anyway) I don't see much reason to risk it with that moron.
Also, I heard that Dakota Euton was transferring to Scott Co. to be close to UK and play better competition. Others might follow.

well dakota euton plays really close to where i live now, and I'm not all that impressed with him yet. he can't really dominate against average competition let alone better competition
that hopson kid from university heights looks like an athlete, he can get up and is as quick as a cat!

I think Hopson makes a decision as early as this coming week. If I were him and it was down to UT and UK, I'd have to look at what Gillispie was able to accopmlish against UT this year with a much less talented team. I think Pearl is a very good (not great) coach. I think if I was Hopson, or any player, with hopes of playing at the next level I'd come to UK. It may be harder work, but Gillispie WILL make you better than you think you can be.

I agree with that whole statement.. TN is good, but i donno.. They're not amazing though.. very beatable as Billy G showed us.. Pearl isn't as good as he wants to be, or thinks he is for that matter. I think that if the Hopson kid is worth the time he'll make the right decision and come to UK.

I hope. I think BG's work ethic and stories of brutal practices may scare off some lazy players who are only interested in coming in somewhere and playing 30 min a game and being the star (read Alex Legion). I think he will only land players that are willing to work their butt off to EARN their spot and become a better player through hard work. We'll see what type of player Hopson thinks he is.

Euton is for sure leaving Rose Hill for Scott Co. Not official yet, but Chad Jackson will probably be going to Scott Co as well. He is a 6-4 point guard and is also a junior to be. I would rather have him than Euton if I were UK.
On a side note, we have Liggins and Miller, both are about the same size as is Hopson. Do we really need 3 recruits that are that similar? Of course it would be hard to turn Hopson down since he is the 15th ranked player in the nation. I am just excited that UK is so active in recruiting!!
IMO, let Mackey go somewhere else. We dont need him. He doesnt seem to me to be a team oriented player from what I have heard.
Lastly, what are the rumors that Jordan Crawford wants to come to UK. I have heard nothing about that??

Euton already has a scholarship for the fall of 2010, so he's still very young (I think he's just 15 and will turn 16 later this year) and should greatly improve his last 2 years in school. He is moving to Scott County, so he will be close to the program the next 2 years, and he'll get to practice with the team in the 'unofficial' practices in the Spring and Summer.
We need Scotty Hopson in a major way. I hear his decision is being made this week. Some say UK some say no way. I think he'll come, and I've thought that ever since he dropped his committment from Ole Miss.
Miller is the real deal too. Very athletic, and he can shoot and has pretty nice form. He sounds decent in interviews.
Hopson and Miller are both academically ready too. :D

Yes Euton is transfering, the company his father wroked for has closed, and he has already taken a job in Lex. And like you said, Jackson says he wants to play with Euton, so most say he will transfer as well.
As for Liggins, Miller and Hopson being the same size, and why need them all? Liggins is a point guard, Miller and Hopson can both play small forward, or the 2. We need that bad.
Several media outlets have reported that Mackey has enquired about walking on UK if he doesn't get any offers. Whether Gillispie allows that, or whether or not he gets any other offers, I guess is yet to be determined.
As for Jordan Crawford, he said after the IU loss that he may be interested in leaving IU. He hasn't mentioned any teams he would be interested in, if he transfers. Just speculating that Uk would have to be in the mix after what Joe said about Gillispie.

You sure about Liggins being a point guard? I have read some on him and what I read has him as a SF/Wing player with "point forward skills", meaning he can handle the ball. Also, if he is a point guard, why are we trying to get Galloway as a JuCo? He is a point guard also.

Nevermind, just checked up another listing that has him as a PG. Even better if he is. 6-6 point guards arent easy to find.

Joe was very emotional aftre UK's loss, uttered these words while crying.
"He's done more for me than a lot of people in my life," Crawford said. "He changed the outlook everyone had on me. He changed me as a person. He got me believing. He's done so much for me and I love him for that. I don't know how I could repay him, ever."

ummmmm no scott, MOST high school players actually compete EVEN when the other team has the ball. i hope that i'm wrong about hopson (IF he comes here - if he don't then screw him, i hope i'm right:)). this kid is a 'one and done' guy. he needs to be somewhere else in my opinion. darius miller is WAY more ready to play and be coached at this point. just wait, ol darius will be a goodern....
