I found a 2003 Dodge 1500 4X4 with low miles at what may be a fair price. The question is the owner says it has a 4.7 liter V-8. I can't seem to find anything on a 03 with that engine..does anyone know if they put a 4.7 in that year and model truck.

Thanks..you wouldn't know the est mileage figures on it would you ?
I have a 98 with the 5.9 and it's a gas drinker for sure.
I had a loaner while my truck was in the shop. I'd guess you'd be lucky to get 15 avg, maybe 18-19 over the road.

duster,
for some reason, my buddies 4.7 (its a 2004, as is mine) doesn't get quite the mileage mine does with the hemi... he gets 14-16 highway.
here is a good forum with a ton of info on the dodge trucks

I nearly bought a new Dakota in '05 with the 4.7 till I got on the web and did some research. The hemi got nearly as good if not better mileage. Tom

If your going to buy one go with the FORD .The dealer here where we live is giving free puppies with every ford truck sold.Reason for this is when the truck breaks down in two years they want you to have someone to walk with...:)On the serious side if you want a 4.00 a gallon diesel and dont mind the extra 10.000 on the price tag go with a cummins.I have one in a company owned tractor trailer and just turned 963.000 with nothing done but a few new injectors. Also have a hunting partner with one in a 2500 dodge with 269.000 on it.Good luck on you purchase.
