His back is still straight and his posture is that of a younger deer. Probably 3 1/2 in this picture. Looks like he has great genes. Good luck with him next year.

This deer lived because our fine fish and game dept thought it would be a good idea to open dove season and bow season the same day!!!! I had pics of this deer wed, thurs, and fri before bow season before dark standing where he is which is 22 steps from my stand. Needless to say my heart sank when on opening afternoon the shotguns started blasting from a DOVE FIELD located 200 yards away. I never got another daylight pic of him and he disappeared altogether 2 weeks later. But he lived through season!!

Hard to say, if you havent' been following him over the yrs.
I have pictures of a buck that is 6 1/2 who's body looks just like the one above.
Don't expect sway backs & sagging bellies to determine a deer's age.
that deer could look totally different in November.

He looks young to me but he could have a lot of age on him looking at that rack!

Tuff to really judge his age by looking at that rack. As stated before i have seen older bucks that look the same.

I'm guessing 3 1/2(at the time of the photo 8/5/07).
Very, very nice deer.
If you're sure he made it through last season then, you've got a "dandy" on your hands for the upcoming season. Best of luck.

Kentucky has opened Dove season on Sept 1st many years before deer season opened on Sept 1st. As a matter of fact, the traditional day to open bow season was Oct. 1st. That hasnt been changed but 10 years or so.
So really you should be happy that it opens as early as it does. you could be waiting until October to chase him.
