As some of you may know I am looking for a GSP puppy. Not being that familiar with the GSP bloodlines I was wanting to know what are some good hunting bloodlines that I should look for or avoid during my initial search. Being an English Setter man all my life, I am a little lost in this area and I don't want to end up with a show dog or something that doesn't have it in him. Any help or input would be appreciated.

Wilhelm, Moesgaard and Rawhide are pretty good names.

go to Gun Dog supply and look at the breeders there.

Also, check out Muddy Creek Kennel

I don't know anything about GSP's myself, but a friend bought one from Westwind and is very happy. Here's a link. There is a bunch of info on GSP's there.

FC Dixielands Rusty, DC Hillhavens Hustler are in my peds and were great dogs and produced great dogs. There are alot of nice dogs and nice looking peds out there just according to what your looking for and what you want to pay.

There are many good lines. Hillhaven Hustler has been mentioned and is a good one as is Dixieland Rusty. I think it depends a little on what types of hunting you are going to do. Many of the field trial lines are more focused on field work and some can be bigger runners.

Shooting Star and Sharp Shooters are kennels/lines from NAVHDA that are good hunting lines, similar to Westwind which has already been mentioned.

There are also the German lines. Hege Haus, Pottsiepen, Rothenuffeln are a few. A couple of experienced American kennels breeding and testing in the German tradition would be Riverwoods, and Beaver Creek.

Thanks to all for the help and any info. I have located a couple so far similar to what I am looking for but timing is really only right for one (so far that is). Both are a little more than I wanted to pay ($500) also. I have looked at several but only a couple matched what I wanted in looks/size. One is out of the Moesgaard line and the other is out of Bluemax Spitfire/Avian Radar. I really like the looks of the Moesgaard pup but timing is a little early.

Many good lines have been mentioned my dog has Dixieland Rusty, some Rawhide, and Rugerheim, and a old name Ehrlicher Abe. I have a planned breeding with a male strong in Moesgaard and Snips. Thats another good name. Snip's as is Gamble's both these lines get a good start with Hillhaven Hustler breeding. So a Moesgaard and Snip's into my old girl should have it all about covered. But it will probably be a year from now before these pups will hit the ground.

I have a limited pedigree if anyone would like to look at it and provide me with any thoughts. If so, please send me you email address in a PM. Again, just trying to make sure what I am getting. I know the pedigree does not make the dog but trying to make sure he has some descent bloodlines before I purchase. Thanks to all!
