I start looking in areas where I know bucks like to bed (real thick w/ some big rubs around) and then move out to trails leading to known feeding areas. The bucks spend most of their time in their bedding areas, and the thick stuff sometimes knocks the antlers loose). Because I've been able to take some trail timer pics of some good bucks feeding at the moultrie feeders we set up this winter, I'll also scour the trails to and from those feeders. Finding sheds isn't easy, b/c bucks can drop them anywhere (I've found sheds laying in fields), but look in the places you think the deer are spending the majority of their time.

They really can be anywhere. It can be hard work and gives me a dern headache sometimes looking for the crazy things. Kinda like training your eye to find mushrooms. My tips would be, get a good walking stick, don't overdress and be prepared to walk your legs off.
