You still have to have the duck stamp from the post office.

and the waterfowl permit
You get the water fowl permit when you buy the sportsman license.

Does the sportsman license cover geese, or is there something else you have to purchase? I know this is about ducks, but I was just curious as I have never hunted either but would be interested in hunting both of them.

Sportsman License covers all of your state needs, waterfowl also require a Federal license in the form of a stamp available at your Post Office.

Was just wondering if geese were considered waterfowl or migratory bird. I have purchased the sportsman's before and had to purchase the $10 migratory bird permit for dove, I was just unsure of what was what so I checked the regs at fw.ky.gov. But thanks for the info.

You don't need to purchase anything other than the Sportsmans License to hunt dove. It is covered.
As Multi said, you will need the FEDERAL stamp for waterfowl. You would also need a trapping license if you decided to do any trapping.

The chart at the bottom shows what licenses you need.

The state stamp in the sportmans package will cover the dove hunting.

thanks for clearin that up, as I said I have never hunted any waterfowl so I had never even looked at the regs to note that it covered other migratory birds as well. The guy at my local walmart must not have known either because he sold them to me at the same time, and the bad thing was I didnt even go dove huntin that year:(
sorry to pirate this thread but was just tryin to get everything straight
To throw a twist in this, if you hunt the Northeastern Goose Zone, you have to get a another free permit/survey to hunt.
