good looking knives. I collect knives so I appreciate this sort of craftsmanship! you could probably sell some for decent money! did you make the blades too?

here is a larger pic. I machined the blades from out of raw stock and heat treated them. I do have a problem with them wanting to rust.http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii298/lestercnc/knife017.jpg?t=1204984882

Good lookin' knives.

Are you storing the knives in the sheaths? Certain chemicals used to tan leather (traces remain in the leather) will cause metal to rust very quickly.

The rusting is probably the type of steel. Carbon will rust without some type of oil or wax on it. It looks like good work, what type of finish and grind did you put on the blades. How did you heat treat the steel?

RDF, the edge is just a milled edge and hand sanded the are not ground surprisingly they hold a pretty good edge as for heat treating I have a small heat treating furnace to harden and draw back.

You ever get to West Liberty? We could get together to talk about knives and I can show my shop and equipment that I use to make knives.

Nice knives! Here is my first (and most likely only) knife. I gave this to my son for his 12th birthday. The blade was made from an old file that I pulled out of a trashcan in the hot metal lab when I was an undergrad student in 1984. It was shaped by hacksaw and belt sander. Hardening was done by professional bladesmith Dale Warther. I wanted the whole affair dark for hunting, so I blued the blade. The handle is from a birch crotch from my Father-in-Laws old property in Indiana. The sheath is raw deer skin from my first archery deer in 1991. Hopefully my son will pass it on to his.
