I thought it would be nice to post what everyone learned this past deer season. I myself learned hunt more see more. You can't hunt the deer you see in a picture at night on a 100 acre farm. And I should have shot my limit in does! and their are alot of messed up racks on my farm and neighboring farms which I beleive to be due to poor nutrtion!

I learned the importance of spending more time in the woods. IMO its not just about how good you actually are at hunting, its about doing it every chance you get. Im lucky to have two good hunting mentors, one of 'em is a primos guy. Everytime I get around those guys Im always grilling 'em trying to get as much knowledge from them as possible, and they both said "The key is time spent hunting", above all they believe that yeilds results. It worked for me this year and I look forward to future seasons.

My school of hard knocks was bucks still have at least some of their wits about them when they're chasing the bejeezes out of a doe. Thought I could get away with a little extra movement to get in position for a shot. Not so much. Newman!

i learned that if you truly love to hunt and talk it about all the time you will find new ppl to get into the sport. i talked to a 27 yr old into just going out and watching. we didnt shoot nothing but got real close to some does. that got his blood going. now he owns two rifles and is going to buy a shotgun and go turkey hunting. he didnt get enough time to practice and actually deer hunt this yr. but he is cutting his teeth on coyote hunting with me now.. also got another guy to go in 06. so last yr, he took a whole week off work to hunt agian. he did finally get one in ml season,, but im glad to report he is hooked!!this guy is 38. can you guess what he got his girlfriend for valentines day? yep a gun. now she loves to shoot!! and has went out with us for coyotes too. to sum up what i learned is outdoors is always best with friends and i would pass up every deer i see to get them one.

I learned you can do everything right by the book and still come up empty and do everything wrong and get a deer -- meaning I was scent free every time out except the last day when I got a buck -- kept the wind in my face all the time till the last when it was hitting my back -- be conceled every day except the last when I was sitting in the open away from a tree -- oh well the old saying a blind squirrel will find a nut every now and then

I learned I have to find a new place to hunt. My once great spot is now over run with gun slingers that shoot it if it moves. Anyone got land they want to lease in Henderson or Webster Co. :(

I moved before lunch and that was when I seen some bucks, but I was walking down the road and couldn't shoot at them.

This year I will stay put in my stand longer and hopefully will have better luck.

I am not complaining, But I learned that it is very hard not to damage the velvet on a buck's antlers that you shoot on opening day. Also on the same subject it makes for a long season when you use your buck tag on Sept. 1st.

It could have been worst you could have had BUCK TAG soup like I did.:D

It wasn't that bad though I was able to see lots of different bucks and learned a great deal about judging bucks in the wild.

I have learned that, hunting with sciatica SUCKS!!! Didn't get to spend as much time in the stand that i wanted to. But learned how important is is to enjoy, the time in the woods, with friends and family. I went empty handed last year, but my nephew got his first buck. So that made up for all of my misfortunes. I am healthy for 08 so watch out!:D

I learned not to over hunt one particular stand, rather have four or five dependable spots depending on wind and MRI (most recent information).

Yes but I found that most recent info can leave you wondering where the inf came from too! I went to a stand one afternoon and found a fresh scrape and rub. hunted that afternoon and the next morning but never saw even a doe there!

I learned that this next year the first doe I see I'm going to shoot not wait thinking well a buck might come in, I like venison quiet well, so if I take my doe early I have the rest of the season to watch deer and wait for my buck, I enjoy being in the woods, life is to short get out there and enjoy the outdoors b/c their are some many people that aren't able to do so, that is what I learned from last year, not to take all my previlages for granted but be thankful for the previlages I have.
