Just wondering what everyones Favorite reel was? Years ago I fished with a Zebco One Classic Feathertouch, best reel I ever had! I finaly wore out the bearings that hold the crank. Now I fish with a new Diawa Megacast and love it!

All of the above!
Not so much the fly reel just because I never fly fish.
They all serve a useful purpose. Spincasting for kids and beginers, spinning reels for finesse fishing, and baitcasters for long casts and big ole chunky baits.
Among Bass fisherman there used to be a bad stigma that went along with using spinning equipment, it was kinda like having a pink tackle box, or having Tampax sponsor your tourney:eek:. Now I carry more spinning equipment than I do baitcasting, but I prefer to finesse fish for bass.

For spinning it is my Shimano Twinpower 3000 MG (Japanese Reel), for baitcasting the Revo's are good, old Curado's were the best for the money (still are IMO) but other than a Steez the best casting reel made is to date probably the Shimano Chronarch 100mg unless you are talking something over $600 or a Japanese Reel. 100mg is very light and with some modifications will outcast anything without a computer chip. Calais is also excellent but a little on the heavy side.

I like to stick with the stuf under 100 dolars. I do have a Browning Midas that retails for 150 but I got it on Ebay for 80 can't pass that up. But I do like my new Megforce a little better. Gotta love that Twich'n Bar!

Shimano Aero Stradic is my favorite which is what I use paired with either a St. Croix, G-Loomis, Berkley Bionix, All Star or Fenwick rod.

My favorites right now are the Gander Mountain Guide Series reels. For the price they are great and last forever and a day.

I am a big shimano man myself. I do have one Lew's for deep crankbaiting, but I love my shimano's the best. I liked the Citicas the best. The old ones.... they were like $89, and I have some that are almost 10 years old. Except for a few scratches and skuffs, they are great. I also have a few of the more expensive models, one curado, one Chronarch, and a couple of years ago bought the magnesium japanese model of the chronarch from a friend of mine. it is GREAT!!!
I guess I like the bait casters because that's what I learned to fish with on the Ohio river. By the time I was 5, mom and dad had me casting those old baitcasters. I do have one or two spinning reels and rods, but just don't seem to be able to really get comfortable with them.
Let's catch some FISH... Don't forget to show up for the 29th KYHunting first anual tournament.

Mark me down for the old Johnson Crappie Pro. Talk about covering the water, you could cast a lure with that thing farther than any I've ever seen. Wore two of them completely out and then they quit making them as far as I know. Never could find them anymore.

Found you some, they are cheap too.

I pretty much use spinning gear for everything. A good spinning reel and an ultralight rod are hard to beat.

Never could get the hang of fly fishing, so it is out for me. I've probably caught more fish on a spinning reel than any other but will fish with any of them.

OK, since you brought it up....
I like all the round Ambassadeurs. Have a passle of them. I also have a Shimano Chronarch that I picked up through an odd transaction. It's a wonderfully built reel, but damned if I know if it's twice or three times as good as an Ambassadeur, but it costs that much.
Spinning? I've bought a bunch of Okuma reels. I've replaced worn-out Shimanos with these reels and I think they exceed the quality at half the price. Don't tell anybody. If they find out, they may raise the price.
Fly reels? I just gave away a Pflueger Supreme. It was a beautifully made, all machined reel. I replaced it with an Okuma. I'm up to three Okuma fly reels. I've examined the Orvis Battenkills that several friends have, and I'd hate to think I bought one of those for three times the price of the Okuma.
Big stuff? Penn. I cannot imagine how Penn makes such beautiful reels for the price. I had a 10' hammerhead pull about 350 yards off of a Senator one time, in one strong run. As I got and lost line, the drag never chattered, got hot or failed.
Which reel is best? The one you like.
