If you buy a license on line then all you get is a number. you print your own harvest log. this makes no sense to me especially after a co offered to write me a ticket a few years ago because he couldn't distinguish where I had signed my liscense.. A flimsy piece of typewriter paper riding in my wallet for a year is going to be unreadable and in pieces. But, it's what I've got. I printed a couple extra copies and will use them if necessary.

What i was told by a CO last year was to print a copy of your license and sign it. You can put your duck stamp on it. But i do agree this is not very good.

I am pretty sure all you need is the number. I think this system is spectacular. I print out copies and write my number in every backpack I own as well as all of my tackle boxes, my truck, in my wallet and in my boat. It is inconcevable that I an ever in a position where I don't have my license.

Pick up some cheap laminating film at Wally world and laminate the license, and just the back side of your harvest log. It holds up pretty well in my wallet, and the stuff costs very little.

Walmarts harvest log will be indentical to one you will print on your home printer. Change the paper in your printer if you want to carry around card board.

what I'm saying is if you were of the outlaw inclination you could print multuple harvest logs and fill them out each time you kill something. you have twenty four hours to call it in. if you don't get checked on the way home then you print yourself a fresh harvest log for the next day. I know some turkey poachers that will love this. also what if you don't carry id and have a couple liscense numbers from your buds just in case.

I know it sounds crazy but I have seen the way that some locals work the computer system at ft cambell for the turkey lottery and having multiple liscense numbers is the kind of trick they will capitalize on. :(:confused:

If your checked in the field, your harvest log must jibe with the Telechek record that will be checked via the CO's electronics. It can't be beat as long as the harvest was telechecked.

B.M. is right, there is big oppertunity to cheat. If you kill a turkey or a deer, fill out your log, drive home and clean your kill, throw away your hunting log get yourself a fresh one, do all over again tommorow.

Anybody can cheat...anytime. Doesn't have squat to do with the on line license sales or the harvest logs. It works fine for those that don't cheat. CO make cases every month for those that won't let it work.

i have to agree with multi. there is a wealth of wasted talent on this board when it comes to how best to run the dept. of fish and wildlife. i bet they take these things into concideration when they make regs. and policy. i myself don't agree with some direction they take and the big picture, but i think they have the little things under control. after all they have had decades to work out the poaching thing most people have trouble with. no offense.

I don't cheat on it ...never have. but there is a real opportunity there for those guys that are so inclined. There are lots of folks that kill mutliple deer and multiple turkeys without tagging. Now they have a real good and easy out everytime they don't get checked on the way home.

if you had to call in imediately is the only way or the old leg tag we used to do. there wasn't much of a way around that.

Plus I miss the little yellow "be safe" sticker i used to put on my turkey gun.:cool:

Again.....nothing new. You could have always used any harvest log you wanted to use, didn't have to be one printed on the back of a license that was only good for 2 animals anyway. You always have had to make one for more than 2 animals, which most people end up killing.

As for the sticker, get you a whole sheet of them from wally world and print on there what ever you want it to say.

As for cheating, nothing has changed, a few still will as in the past under any system you want to pick.

I feel like they are doing what they feel will work the best. To post everyones name on the telecheck system is thier biggest tool now. They say is there for you to make sure you checked your harvest in correctly. But i feel they also know that if people can check other people that this would help. I would almost bet since they did this they have gotten more calls on unchecked animals. If they ever decide this system is not working then they will move to the next plan. Thats all anybody can do. jmo

On the subject of license if they get any smaller they'll become a stamp of sorts -- I'll have to take my reading glasses just to fill out the harvest log

If a person is going to be an outlaw and not tag game, it doesn't matter wither the license and permits come off the internet, wal-mart or wherever, they are going to do it regardless. As far as Fish and Game in Ky, we have got some very skilled officers. If you don't believe me go talk with some from other states. Our guys are great guys and very professional. I think highly of our officers.

Print license, cover printed side with cellophane packing tape, trim and fold. Usually will keep you for a year.
