Billy G and bruce pearl were both at the second region bball tournament tonight, they signed a lot of autographs and took a lot of pictures, it was neat to see! of course they werent sitting together:p Im guessing they were looking at Scotty Hopson.

They did speak to each other (it was Billy going up to Bruce) while standing at the end of Hop Central's bench at the half. Billy then went to the end of UHA's bench. I think he was just wishing to have anything halfway healthy that can be on his bench.

Pearl is a great coach and has done some great things for that program in a short time, BUT if I'm Hopson I would take notice of how we almost swept UT this year while basically only playing 3 D1 players. I think it's obvious that coming to UK right now would be a good move for any KY kid that has the talent. Lofton did the right thing, but now that Tubby is gone players can come here and actually feel like they will improve their game.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.
Good post Art.

I talk to a lot of UHA boosters and get a lot of insight into the recruitment of Hopson. Kentucky could have him in a minute...that is where he and his mother want to play. It is just that UK is late in the game because to be perfectly honest, the kid and his mother both have a rep for being head cases. A man really close to UHA's program -- a man who's opinion I respect very much -- says the kid won't last a season in college. Who knows.

UK wants him badly. Gillispie refuses to talk to any recruits who are committed to a school. Hopson has been committed to Miss St for sometime. He has just in the last month decommitted, so Gillispie has now become involved.
I find it hard to believe that he really wants to come to UK, but committed to MSU a year ago. If a kid wanted to go somewhere, why would be commit somewhere else, a year before he has to commit?

All the recruiting gurus say UK and Tenn are his leaders, with MSU and Cincy behind them.

All I know is what a UHA booster who helps with the program tells me.

i've seen this kid play, he has all kinds of talent no question. acts like a jerk on the floor though. i hope he goes somewhere else personally. i think after a week with billyG he would run to his momma just like legion did.

I agree, he has lots of talent.. But all he wanted to do during the game was try to get on a fast break and dunk, even with the two coaches there. I think wherever he goes, he wont listen and he'll try to do what he wants. If he does act right, he has tons of potential
