A guy I work with said the kid next door to him killed one the other day. Shot it with a .223 but ended up finishing it off with a rock. He has it in his freezer waiting to get it mounted. The warden said if sees another one they would like to get it alive to do test on it or something. I hear they have been working up this way over that past few years.

What caliber was the rock? KY has a minimum size requirement for using rocks to kill dillos. They must be at least 1 gauge.

Battle of Bunker Hill the militia ran out of ammo and loaded their guns with rocks and anything else they could find for one last shot.

The first armadillo I saw in Kentucky was found around the Todd/Logan county line about 3 years ago.

See if it has been running with a black panther. They want to do a DNA test on any black hairs found around the animal. Lol!

Southern states, armadillos get hit on the roadways like opposums do up here. It would not surprize me if one wonders up here everynow and then. I heard about one getting hit afew years ago.

Guys I have to admit I chuckled at this thread and the fact the guy is actually getting it mounted:D
I live in Fla. dillos are everywhere and trust me they are not something you want in your yard or woods for that matter, they will keep you on the edge of your treestand thinking a deer is coming. They are very destructive to lawns and just not good for much of nothing except to feed the buzzards on the roadways. I know people around here that have such a problem with them in there yards, in subdivisions, they set out motion sensors in their yard at nite and sit in their recliner with a good pellet gun waiting for the intruders...what a fun friday nite!
They are typically nocturnal creatures but can be seen all during the day.
They don't see or hear very well, they rely on smell. It's fun to sneak up on them. you can catch em by grabbing their tail, be careful of those front claws though!
Kill em all when ya see em. Stop the migration!!;)

I've shot a bunch of them down in SC. A 357 Magnum with hollow points makes them pop. I piled up 6 or 7 in a pile one day after an afternoon of doing drive by shootings on them. Went by there the next day and there were 2 Bald eagles sitting there eating them like buzzards. Kind of hurt my image of our national symbol.

2 facts about armadilos.

1. They are confirmed as significant nest predators of quail eggs. One study in FL showed that up to 25% of annual nest loss was to armadillos.

2. They always have identical quadruplets as babies.

I went to Current River in southeast Missouri last year and saw several dead on the road.
