Hi,
New to the boards here. I have been an avid archer for many years now, and some of the best times I have had, have been with my wife...Keep your mind on archery boys . I don't hear a lot about couples shooting, and was just wondering how many others spend time in the field (either target range or hunting) with their wives. I realize this could lead to some fun, colorful comments, so any responses that may not be appropriate for younger audiences, please pm me. I look forward to contributing to the boards and talking with you all from time to time. Looks like a great site here.

Welcome to the site. My wife does not like to bow hunt but she likes ML and modern gun season. She like to hunt easy.:D

We shoot archery together and we hunt together, during archery season. Its nice to have someone to drive you to practice a little harder, each and every time we shoot.

Hey Man, I take my wife when she will go. She hurt her shoulder a few years ago and hasn't hunted much sense then. She was a dead eye when it came to archery though. We use toi shot competion but niether one of us was very compeitive. We just had fun. Her favorite way to practice was in our backyard shooting apples off the back of our 3-D Archery Target. I never got the nerve to place it on my head, and i'm not stupid either. (lol) We now spend most of our hunting season taking first timers mainly kids and she helps out in the camps. She enjoys the camp settings. I always put her in the better stand also because i wanted to see her get a deer more than me. The first time out she had a chance to take a really nice 6 pointer about 10 steps but it was a illegal deer on the place we were hunting. They wanted at least 8 points. Needless to say it walked. We also hunted out of the same tree once, with me just a little higher than her and that didn't work either because of the bodily noises that our bodies make kept her laughing. We saw all sorts of deer but they saw us also. It was a fun afternoon with my wife though.
I have also took my daughter to and have been with her on her first deer, a 60 pound doe and then her first buck a nice 5 pointer. Now she has another man who takes her. He will soon be her husband. Well at least he hunts and she likes it also. I hope he doesn't get aggrevated though when she shots Mack Daddy.

Didn't vote because my wife doesn't hunt or fish - and if she did I dought she could pull a bow back or set long enough without being detected - my daughter gun and ml hunts but we haven't found a bow she is comfortable with yet - and my daughter gets a crack at the best places and deer first

My wife hunts during ML and modern gun has a bow but doesn't shoot it much anymore, but I say she will not be hunting none this year with a baby due in August.

i used to take the wife hunting, fishing, 3-d tournaments, and NRA and national guard rifle matches. when the kids came onto the scene that slowed things down a bit, but as they get older and can get out and do, we will as a family get out there.

i voted to put her in the best stand. i want her, or my children to experience good things outdoors, and putting her in the best stand is an easy way to do that.

That stopped my wife for one year, then the next season rolled around and she had her sister baby sit. She only hunts the first ML and the weekends of modern gun, if its not to cold.

Hi all....this is Canemaker's wife. I hope you don't mind me asking a question. Just wondering why you felt the need to put the only option for taking the wife hunting to "Put her in the best stand." It "almost" sounds as if you have little faith that a female would fare well in any other stand :).

My husband and I usually hunt together, out of a buddy stand or out of our hunting house. We do this mainly for the companionship and to share the outdoor experience together....not due to my inadequacies as a hunteress.

Hope I'm not opening a can of worms...just one woman's opinion ;).

My wife's not interested in hunting at all and has no desire to ever go. That's perfectly fine with me :)

I have tried in the past to get my wife into hunting, but she could never make up her mind whether she wanted to or not. After wasting money on licenses and tags that never got used I quit offering. I voted to leave her at home - I would bring her to camp but she is not a very good cook :D

So far, I'm the only one that leaves the woman in camp. KYHillChick wants it that way. She comes to camp and does a lot of the cooking. She loves camp, but does not want to hunt.

Wife #1, Satan, started out loving to hunt. However, after a few years of marriage, she decided she didn't want to any more and wanted me to quit as well. The marriage did not last too long after that.

my wife can not bow hunt due to a bad shoulder, but she will gun hunt with me. last season i put her in a "very good spot" because i had scouted the area and wanted her to tag a deer, which she did. i have no doubt about her shooting skills, and she likes to shoot. i will take her again next year, and will scout out a spot for her again.
