I live near Falls or Rough and was wondering if I could fish below the old Green mill in the falls tail waters. This used to be great fishing but a few years ago some people bought the place and have heard ever since their is no fishing alowed there. The road in there is state owned and the creek banks are a state right of way how can public fishing be stopped?

They have can down there with an attitude, trying to run me off several times for fishing. I just go to the other side and wade anywhere I want to fish usually. Right there by the old mill building is a great crappie spot. If the water isn't too high, you can usually wade over there wearing a good pair of chest waders.
I would go anyway and park on the other side of the bridge from the mill. I have never had anyone say anything to me about fishing on that side.

Hey I saw where you were asking about trout stream near philpot the other day. well there is one not far from the old mill. Its on Highway 54 between fordsville and short creek There is a bridge that crosses Rogh creek and it is a place called Hike Falls it is a riffle. the turn out more trout there than the did below the spill way at Rough River. There is two rifles there the lower usualy holds more fish. any way just past the brige from your way is a pull off on the left hand side and a good place to park. Its a great place to swim to if you have little ones?

No he's an a**. he once tried to take an 8 yr old boy's BB gun away. his dad was trying to teach him how to handle a gun while rabbit hunting. My self I see nothing wrong with this it isn't like the boy is going to kill a rabbit. I was taught the same way!
Another of my friends stopped to talked to a guy he new ont the side of the road. He got out of the truck and walked over to the guy. The other man just so happened to be Rabbit hunting Rick pulls up and rights my friend a ticket for hunting without hunter orange. My friend explained what he was doing but did no good and had to go to court. This is why I say he is a Bonafied D**k!

Creek banks are not public unless the land around them is also. While the water is considered public, the banks and bottom under the water is private, wading would be considered trespassing if you did so without permission.

I always heard it was like a road, it had a 10 foot or so right of way that was open to the public

If you know his name don't hesitate to report him. Most of them are good guys, but you always get some bad ones in the bunch.

I always heard that since rough river is stocked, that there is a right of way for public fishing. If any CO's on here want to chime in, I would like to get clarification.

I was always told the ground is private. If you were floating not touching the ground they was nothing they could say. But I am not for sure.

i do know there is a Allotted amount of ground on each river channel, water way, highway, etc but it's usually in feet 6 or 10 a smaller number. In this case im not sure the number. SO with that said odds are you will be tresspassing to get to where your going even if where you are going is legal to fish.
As for the CO in that area i myself have had some run in's with them dont remember any names but it was while we were hunting there and we were not residents of the county so they tended to single us out and try to find anything to write us up about hoping to intimidate us to keep us from coming back. Simply casue we were killing there duckssss. :D:D:D

Well, considering that my farm is less than 5 minutes from the old green farm, I think I am entitled to chime in here. I know all the game wardens in that area. Very well as a matter of fact. First of you accomplish nothing by using his name on here. Secondly, One inparticular CO upholds the law to the letter. Given the poaching that goes on in this area, it is very important that he does so. And for upholding the law such as he has, he catches hell from people like shotm. Furthermore, if he wrote your buddy a ticket what you said, I would be willing to bet your buddy was a smarta** or something of that nature.
Besides the extreme amount of poaching that goes on here, meth labs are quite abundant. The District Captian CO which happens to reside in the same county had his house broken into and robbed clean. There is no respect for the law. The particular CO in question supposedly his house was burned to the ground. Just a couple of incidents to give you a idea of the kind of people they are dealing with.

"Their ducks"? It is hilarious that people think this way.
I have heard the landowner at falls of rough say that they were "friends" with the local CO, and they could have him there in 30 minutes. I am just wondering if they now own the land on both sides of the bridge, or just the mill side? I always park on the other side, and I have never had anybody say anything to me about fishing over there.

Huh! good luck They are turning lose water at the Dam so fast that there isn't a falls. its so bad that down toward Dundee the creek is out of the banks! I don't magine you will find many Crappie in that. and you might not get out of it till you hit the Ohio if you make a wrong step! LOL!

Archer is right on this. I learned this one the hard way. If the land is ownded on just one side of the river or creek then the land owner owns half off the bottom. If he owns both sides then the bottom of the creek is his . Mine was thrown out with a warning to either be in a boat or stay away. The owner showed his A** in court and that helped as well. :D

I have heard that same thing from a privileged few that have gotten permission to fish them on rainy days.
