I am leaving for Pigeon Forge this Friday morning for our weekend trip. Hopefully I will have some trout pics to bring back from fishing the little Pigeon river:). Fishing there is going to cost me a little more than I thought it would, but it will be worth it I think....That is if I can get away from the wife-to-be for long enough to wet a line:D

Are you fly fishing? I know a couple good little holes down that way.

Yes, I will be fly fishing for the most part. I am bringing a spinning rod just in case, but I am going to use the fly rod most of the time.

I don't know if anyone's already suggested it, but fishing on the Cherokee reservation just over in NC is only $5 for the tribal permit. No other license is needed.

I live on the Pigeon River and if your trout fishing it gets better the higher in the mountains you get.Now i've used a spinning reel my whole life so i don't know a whole lot about fly fishin but if you use your spinning reel the trout will hammer a Mepps spinner also known as a ''rooster tail''. If you don't have one you can get them at the bass pro about 10 miles from pigeon forge. If you fish down in the hills below the mountains like in Sevierville you can catch smallmouth til your arm gets tired.;)

From the looks of the weather forecast better take plenty of clothes for warmth--good luck on the trout--are you going to visit the Cades Cove area--if so bring back some pics

Cherokee tribal permits are $7 per day. I fish there every year.

Awwwwww come on Clyde....

My wife is great about me wanting to fish. Heck, she even encourages me to go. Often she suggests I go down the night before and spend the night to avoid the early morning drive.

Uhmmmmm, wait... wants me out of the house, over nights..... Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmm

LMAO

Really, nothing to worry about. Before she got sick, she was my fishing partner. She loved it. But now she is on meds that prevent her from being in the sun, and she can no longer take high temps without getting ill. So, despite that she had to give it up, she absolutely doesn't want me giving it up.

Shoot, she's really excited about the tournament we have coming up here. I sure can not complain a bit about her.

SHE'S THE BEST!!!!

Mine loves it for about an hour at a time when out on the boat. Other than that she just can't see why I would rather fish than most anything else.... :D

I am getting excited now, just a day away! I've been tying flies the past 3-4 days. It is so neat to catch a fish on a bait YOU made.

I finally get to try out the waders I bought back in the fall for the first time too!:D
