Hey guys,
I'm fishing for any deer hunting info on Carter Co. Made a new friend that has a line on some private property somewhere near the caves.
I'm from va just across your eastern border, understand your bucks tend to live a little longer than they do here. Wouldn't really be trophy hunting but looking for something better than a 1 1/2 if we make the drive. Hope to check it out this spring.
Got a place off of I-77 in NF. Blow the horn when you pass thru may bend an elbow and trade a story or two.
Thanks for any advise.

There are plenty of deer here. Watch where you drive or you may collect one. I own property near the caves myself. Your friend isn't from Michigan is he?

what is your buddies name? I have some guys from NC leasing land beside me in Lewis Co. about 20 miles from where you are talking about. This land is very hard to hunt and you may go several days without seeing a deer. Most people hear how many big deer are killed in the area and think they are going to kill one if they come, not true. There are a lot more deer in the area around the Caves, but not as many big ones as there is out in the country side. Good luck on your hunting.

Hey Velvet thanks for the reply .
Not expecting a cake walk by any means. I grew up hunting in the mid 70's in a county with one doe day. Things have changed a lot since then but can still wait when i need to.
I have an FSA aerial photo and was hoping derive some coordinates so I could find it on terraserver...
Anybody know of a website?
It looks like there is a good mix of stuff....you guys have a lot of white oaks in the area?

Yes, most of the area has whiteoak on the south facing hills and mostly poplar on the north facing hills. There are a lot of chestnut oak on the ridges with scattered white and redoak.
