After a slow morning of a few teal, mallards and drake gadwall, I went scouting. On a friend's farm two ponds were loaded. Each pond had at least 50 ducks and one had an additional 50 geese. The cool thing was that there were mallards, ringnecks, teal, blacks, gadwall, shovellers, and each pond had a flock of redheads on it. Both are big ponds, and thjough we plan to hunt in the morning, we will probably have limited success. The birds are notorious for landing out in the middle out of range. I sure would have liked to have jump shot one of those groups of redheads for a mounter, but we decided to save them and try it with the dekes tomorrow...
