I have a glass friction call and have lost my striker, so lets here what some of you think is the best type to replace and get the best sound?

I personally like the Strike III line from Woodhaven. They come in either laminated birch, oak, or an ebony core, in both flared tip or straight tip. They are a little pricey, but great strikers. Woodhaven also has standard wood strikers that are second to none. On glass (or any call for that matter), I like the Purpleheart and plain old hickory hickory.

Triple seven Primos. Great sound no matter what slate you use. Sounds great on the power crystal

a few years back i lost my all time favorite striker on a youth hunt..
(i took a kid and he got a gobbler) was so much excitement that i picked up everything but my striker went back days later and searched every where with no luck..i went to wally and they had like a HS Strut 6 pack for like $8
and they seem to produce very good sounds I typically use my mouth call and box often but slates are very good sounding...

IMHO you need at least three strikers and I would suggest a purpleheart, a hickory and last but not least a Knight & Hale Powertip. If I could have just one it would be the K&H. They really grab the call.

All strikers are different and there is no one striker that is best. You just have to try different ones until you find one that works best for you, your call, and your calling style. I personally like laminate strikers for glass calls. But saying that what is best for me would be best for you would be wrong.

Go though the strikers you already own and then go to a call friendly store and try out several more. You will find what you need.

my favoritte on glass is dymondwood with a mushroom tip. It will flat out scream! For an all around striker I like purple heart tip and a laminated top. It plays great on most surfaces.
