Does anybody have any Public Land suggestions for hunting turkeys in East Tennessee? I would really like to head down for a week, but I do not know much about where to hunt. My father-in-law has a camper on Douglas Lake, but I'll take any suggestions you have, from Middlesboro/Harrogate down to the Smokies. Thanks.

Hey buddy Im from Middlesboro. I have a few friends that hunt public land in TN. There is a lot of good public TVA land that surrounds Norris lake (20 minutes from harrogate). I have two friends that have made a living hunting birds around the lake. Lots of land and little pressure! Id check into it if I were you. No reason to drive all the way down to the smokies. I spend a lot of time on the lake in the summer and see a good bit of birds coming to the lake for water.

Thanks, I'll check into it. I wish the land around Douglas was public access, but it isn't.

Yep, tell me about it! I have seen many a long beard on the banks at Douglas. I once had 4 long beards hammering off to the right near the face of the dam. Let me tell you, with the echo, they were raising the roof, lol!

Don't quote me but I think it is $175 for a week big game, $260 or so for yearly big game. Big game is deer, bear, turkey and maybe hogs. A simple yahoo or google search will give you a definite answer on TWRA site.

Dale Hollow also has plenty of birds, although those hills are pretty darn steep .... Jason
