Went out coyote hunting this am and 6-8 gobbled for about an hour while a hen close by sounded off about 10 times. They know its coming!

That is awesome, there is nothing like hearing that kind of thunder!!
It just bothers me a little, because I dont want a turkey season like last year, when It got so cold at the first of the season, and we lost some of our eggs because of the very cold temps.
Early March they were doing their thing, and it really showed you what kind of hunter you are. I didnt get my bird until the last day of the season, which was cool, im not complaining i picked a bird and stayed with him all season, it just the birds did not want to work hardly at all.

To me so far this winter is typical of winters from years ago and more back to normal maybe it'll pan out this year and gradually warm up and possible stay cool till mid March anyway--then by season cool mornings and warm and not to hot days and the hunting will be awesome--hearing the toms fire up always gets the blood to pumping faster

For the last 12 years I have started my morning listening in late Febuary. It is not uncommon to hear birds tearing it up on a warm morning in early Feb. I promise we will have more cold snaps, maybe a few good snows, it happens, but turkeys will be turkeys no matter the weather. I called one in for my son last year first day of youth season, it was 19 degrees and an inch of snow on the ground. Then I killed one opening day 30 minutes after a downpour. Hell, we have all been out on a "perfect morning" and not heard a peep and leave the woods scratching our heads.

Weather will always be unpredictable, but the one thing that is predictable is that you can't kill one from the bedroom. That is why it is hunting.

The turkey i killed last year was on the first day of youth and it was snowin and like 20 degrees and the wind was awfull, but it was one of the best days ive had in a long time. Saw a lot of turkeys and they were gobbling good at like 2pm.
