If you had to choose between what turkey call to take to the woods and had to leave the rest of them at the house what would be. In other words whats your favorite

Push Button call that has been discontinued

Would that be similar to the M.A.D. The Egg push button call? Anyone used this call? How's is work for beginners?

It's a push button like the egg, but the similarities end there. It can do it all in a small package, and sounds more "turkey" than any of the polymer type calls on the market, IMO. It requires a little practice to learn how to drive it to mimic all the sounds, but it can do them.

hard to say, I like to use the mouth, slate, and box call. If I had only one to choose to take I would choose the slate call.

I would choose a mouth call because it's so versital--but we all know each call has it's own time of season so to speak

I have been using our slate call alot the past few years but if I was only limited to one I would have to take our Cuttin Hen mouth call. But please don't limit me to just one. It's much more fun to take lots of calls.;)

I would hate to have to choose. But a diaphragm and slate does the bulk of my calling. I make all my calls but the diaphragms. I've made my slate, wing bone, box call, and tube call. I really like the wing bone at times. I've called some public land birds with it that would not come to any other call. Sometimes it something thats a little different that pulls them in. Learn to use as many kinds as you can and see what works on that day.

It would have to me a Matt VanCise mouth call by Woodhaven. I can get down and dirty or clear and crisp just by changing the air blown under it. By far the best call for me.

I'm partial to Cane Creek or M.A.D. diaphragms. The Shipwreck by M.A.D. has down really well for me in the past.

I never go to the turkey woods without my old wing bone . For many years I used a Neil Cost " Twin Hen " box call , but have since retired it to the gun safe as it has gotten so valuable its not worth the risk of getting it broke. I also use the cane creek slate with my wing bone as a striker

I love my glass codyII friction call, but I lost my striker, it was a heavy hickory from cody. Give me some opinons on a new striker for glass, will a carbon work, or should I stick with some sort of wood?

it would depend on alot of things. I look like a turkey call salesman when I go to the woods, I have probably 20 mouth calls, 2 box calls, 4 slates, 6 pegs, a wing and 3 decoys, and honestly, if it's not setting up right at daylight, I usually don't use decoys, and no matter the set up I usually end up using 1 or 2 mouth calls, my favorite box, and a slate.

But weather permitting, my box call is my fall back. It'll call 'em in when nothing else wil. If weather not permitting, probably the sweet talker from LRGC. It's the BEST slate I've used, and I've used alot. I know it doesn't sound like it, but I usually keep it simple. I just like to have an arsenal if I need it. It's hard to leave my mouth calls at home just cause there is nothing I can't do on one and I can actually use two at the same time. WORKS GREAT FOR FIGHTING PURRS!
